Got some brochure for The Tuition Refund Plan, covering withdrawls from school due to injuries/sicknesses.... get a refund of your insurance. For people going to private universities where the tuition is over $30,000 is this a good idea, or a waste of money? (it doesn't say how much it costs either). Do many people do this?

I've been at USC for 4 years now, but I don't know anyone who bought that insurance. Unless there is some foreseeable chance that you will withdraw, I think its silly.

i buy it.....who knows what will happen and it costs nothing compared to tuition

Did you read the terms

It says it wont cover "war or any act of war, declared or undeclared"

My question-- why not!!

I can understand why they won't cover "suicide or intentionally self-inflicted injury or sickness" because you're doing it onto yourself.. but war.. that's totally out of your control!

My car insurance would pay for damages if lightening struck it!!

haha.. nobody need answer this.. I am merely thinking out loud 😀

Well, if war WERE included alot of military ppl would buy in, get paid off, and jack up the plan rates. It's a question of risk. People are deployed too often for the payouts to be sustained at such a low premium.

Uh.. I was thinking more along the lines of ... "there's bombs flying over my head.. im not going to class!!!" i.e. terrorist attacks!

Besides, if it were up to me, I'd give our servicemen their tuition back REGARDLESS if they bought in to this insurance thing. I mean.. they're being called up to fight a war so that you don't have to. It's the least we can do to give back to the men and women who serve to keep our country free.

But your car insurance would not pay if the enemy dropped a bomb on your car.

Yes my car insurance WILL pay if someone dropped a bomb on my car (less the deductible of course) -- it's called "comprehensive insurance coverage" which covers damage caused to your vehicle caused by any unknown party or "act of God"
