If for some reason an incoming student, who matriculates and begins at a particular school, is then unable to continue attending that school, what are his/her tuition responsibilities? Is this person required to pay the tuition for the remainder of the semester? Is tuition pro-rated according to the number of days attended for that semester? Furthermore, what happens to the loans?

The policy depends on the school. Usually you have to pay tuition before school starts so they would have the money. They can then refund you the tuition according to how many days you attend. Most schools post these information on their web.
