so the Tulane Anatomy Certification Program where you take 2 courses at the med school and are integrated with the first years then get a letter to med schools with your performance level, anyone have any experience with this? Heard anything about how first years treat/perceive them? I'm considering applying since I interviewed at Tulane then was rejected for one major issue in my application. The director of admissions told me over the phone if i apply for the MD program this year for 2006 and corrected the problem (easily corrected) then I would "have an excellent chance of admission," essentially pre-accepting me for next year (i know, don't count your chickens, etc). anyways, another question, apply for ACP or wait till next year for 4yr only? I'm reapplying to my state school as well either way so might get in there. Help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

If all you are worried about is how the students will treat you....it is a non-issue, do it! I'm a first year and the difference b/n ACP and us is that they have it better in ways b/c they get to take their 1st year in parts which is great; besides this, the classmates doing ACP are just that, classmates, and will be exactly like the regular class their 2nd year. If it is a difference b/n going to ACP this year or reapplying next year where you may get the same result I know that I would want to guarantee my career and aspirations by doing whatever I could...

good luck

Do most of the students who go through ACP go onto Tulane? Also, do you know if most other schools take the credits for taking Anatomy, etc. or do you have to take those courses again?

yes, most if not all stay here. They get credit for anatomy so they end up being the T.A.'s for the 1st years. We have 2 ACP T.A.'s plus an M.D. in each lab. They also take histology their 1st semester and neuroanatomy their 2nd semester and get credit for them all. No, they don't take these classes again which is very nice because they get to take their 1st year in parts.
