SO I'm accpeted to both. I have a 32 MCAT and a 3.56 GPA. Im leaning towards Tulane because of its proximity to Texas. I was wondering which of the two programs would better help my resume for reapplying this upcoming cycle.

If you didn't get in last cycle, it likely wasn't bc of your stats.

Where and when did you apply? What are your ECs?

SMPs are meant for those with below average GPAs (<3.5). Your GPA is a little low but still more than good enough for MD schools (esp w/ your MCAT score).

Thanks for the self esteem boost! I applied almost everywhere in Texas and a few places out of state like University of Colorado, UCF, UC Davis, University of Oklahoma. I know I didnt apply to as many places as I should have( Only applied to 5 instate and 6 out of state). The only feed back I received on my application was that I didn't have any ECs that were not medical related. All my ECs were in fact medical related as I was an EMT-B, extensive shadowing, medical trips to Latin America, and a part of some prehealth professional organizations such as the Hispanic Health Professions Organization.

To my credit, I did have volunteering other than that such as Food Bank and Soup Kitchen Volunteering. But the hours were measly compared to my medically related ECs so I didn't bother including them on my apps.

I figure if I am reapplying, I will have a year in between applying and matriculating (hopefully). So I figured I would enhance my resume by taking an SMP and earning a Masters in one year rather than sitting on my ass stressing over acceptances/rejections.
