Hello!
So ive been admitted to Tulane, Drexel and UTSPH. Can anyone give me a heads up regarding these 3 schools. im so confused and just cannot make a decision. i dont have the facility to visit the schools since im an international student.
Would appreciate help from someone who could list our some pros and cons!
Thanks in advance!!

UTSPH---
PROS--Very diverse, interdisciplinary and has the multiple campuses which is a plus if you have a specific taste in where you want to live. There are so many professors and centers compared to all schools I have looked at. The area has rapid employment as of yet and the rent isn't too expensive. The concentrations are exciting and can add boost to your resume. They have the customized degree. At the UT Austin campus you are taught by UT Austin professors.

CONS--Most all research is centered in Houston and I have heard bad things about Houston (not safe, big city, ghetto). Even for Austin which is centered in the health promotion site, the research is in Houston for the most part. Contact has been difficult with certain departments, not sure how employment is, they don't seem to be as organized and I haven't been able to find a facebook page for admitted students (which means people aren't as excited as other schools per say)

Tulane--Pros: Ranking compared to UTSPH, amazing genetic aspect to their research which I love, is the only school with a tropical medicine component, NOLA is rebuilding after the storm and has a lot of opportunities, they are trying to emphasized science, have been very responsive and the current students have been helpful, many different research departments, oldest school of public health

Cons: The city of NOLA is a little unsafe and there is some crime, not ranked as high as other programs, there aren't as many professors as compared to other schools, no concentrations/certificates, no MCH concentration, majority of students are MD, wasn't able to attend admitted students day as it was so early

These are just my opinions!

hey thanks for the heads up ging1088.

Since you havent even mentioned Drexel, im assuming it isnt worth talking about in front of UTSPH and Tulane. ive been admitted to UT-Houston and got pretty excited when you mentioned all the pros. and yes, yesterday, i was pretty disappointed when i couldnt find a facebook page for admitted students 🙁

MCH? Maternal and Child Health?? It's right here: http://www.sph.tulane.edu/publichealth/chs/mphglobalmch.cfm

The vast majority of the students aren't MD, to my knowledge. 😕 There are quite a few med students who do the dual program, but in comparison to the size of the school, I don't think it's that many. And the only department to have a lot of pre-med's is tropical medicine.

Thanks for showing me that. I was just under the impression it was a lot of Med students because that's who I talked to.

ive got an admit at Uni of texas SPH at houston, drexel and ohio for MPH in epi.
Can anyone suggest where to accept the admit.
