I recently called the Tulane admissions office to get info about the waitlist. Apparently only 40-75 people get offered acceptances off the waitlist every year. I'm assuming about 700+ people are on the list. So if you are currently in the "acceptance range" at Tulane, your chances of getting in pretty much suck. It looks like I better start preparing for the application cycle next year...sigh

If Keck-USC accepts me sometime in the near future, I'll **instantaneously** forgo my seat at Tulane.

So if all goes well, there will be one more empty seat to be offered to someone on the Tulane waitlist. Dunno if that's any consolation but that's my contribution to your waitlist woes.

good luck to you and me!

what the hell are you talking about? Tulane has a lot of waitlist movement and their class is only 150, so if you say that 40-75 get off the waitlist that could potentially be half the class. Also Tulane isn't the first choice of everyone who applies. It is a mid tier school, I think it is considered a back up school for the really competitive applicants, people who will probably go to harvard, stanford, hopkins etc. Another thing, 700 plus on the waitlist, they interview 900 people and accept around 300 so that only leaves 400 possible and not all of them are put on the waitlist, I assume that half are waitlisted and the rest rejected. I am on the waitlist there and i feel that I have a good chance of getting in.

Actually, when I interviewed in mid October at Tulane, Dr. Pisano (The dean of admissions) said that they waitlist almost everyone that interviews but that doesn't get in. He said that they only interview those that they think they would accept. He said only a VERY few are flat out rejected after interview.
Tulane accepts a lot of people (about 250- maybe more) and then waits until these people withdraw. Movement on the waiting list occurs after this 250 is reduced to below their class size (after May 15, I assume).
I'll be withdrawing my admission soon, probably, so there will be one more open spot, at least!

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys. Now if you could just specifically request your vacated spot to go to size_tens from sdn I'd be eternally grateful 😀 . As far as waitlist movement I'm thinking that 40-75 might just be the amount of waitlisted applicants that end up matriculating. The number offered acceptances might be considerably higher than that. Maybe I should ease up on my job search a little.

900-300=400 right???

hehe... well that would depends on what you mean by "size ten".
If it's your feet, then NO.

If you're a girl, you have large feet and you prolly have trouble finding cute shoes.

If you're a guy...well... that's a whole 'nother category of sizing... 😉
