So this postdoc fellow at the med school decided that a volunteer researcher position at the dept. of plastic & reconstructive surgery (I'm considering the oral & maxillofacial route) is better suited for pre-med students. On one hand I'm disappointed because it sounded like it could be interesting and on the other I'm relieved because this means I can take one more class and have more time to prepare for the DAT.

I was hired in a paid summer internship where I did
clinically based outcomes research with diabetics (no publication). I feel that this is hardly enough to make me a more competitive applicant. What are the generals views around these parts concerning research? Thanks.
