I think I'm going to turn down an interview, but first I wanted opinions from people who could possibly identify with my situation. I've gotten into a program 3 hours away from me that I really do like.

But what I'm struggling to decide is if I should attend an upcoming interview for a program that is seven hours away from me (it's at Milligan College). I know almost nothing about this program and I've never visited. I don't know if I realistically see myself going to a program 7 hours away when I could attend one much closer to home- but with if I don't go and I really miss out on something?! I also consider all of the money I've spent applying and wonder if I will regret cutting myself short when I've already made it this far.

There is also the thought that I'm taking up an interview spot for someone who might be dying to go! And that I will be spending even more money on gas and a hotel room by attending the interview.

As you can see I'm all over the place here. I appreciate any and all advice!!!

Hello! I recently turned down an interview that I had previously rescheduled due to flight costs. My interview was set for this Friday in Maine and I decided that the snow and flight delays is something I would rather not deal with. If the weather had been better, I most likely would have made the trip out there because I haven't received any notification of an acceptance from the schools I have interviewed at. The difference between my situation and yours is that you were accepted to a closer school and to be honest, if you don't have any hesitations about the program then go for it. Right after I declined my interview, someone else in the area was called to take my place. As much as I may regret my decision, I am happy that I could provide a last minute spot for someone. I was just in the same exact situation 2 weeks ago. I got accepted to a school in the city I live in, but had two interviews that are about 10-12 hours away. I like the school I got accepted into, but I felt that maybe the other schools offered more. I did some research on here and called the schools about their program, costs, and likelihood passing the NBCOT and landing a job, and it wasn't really much different. I then e-mailed both schools letting them know that I would not be able to attend their interviews because of costs and they didn't mind. They understood my situation and they were happy for me. I did decline a week before because of costs of flying and they were on the same week I had 2 papers and 2 exams due. Yes, I did waste money to apply to those schools, but in the end, I am happy that I got into a program. I hope you make the right decision for yourself!
