Am i the only one turning down invitations to go hang out with friends because of DAT studying? It's just horrible for me!

Most of your friends will not be there forever. When they get jobs they wouldnt take a day off for you. But i will tell you what will be there forever with you. Your dat score. and you only get 3 shots.

Friends? What friends? I used to have friends before I decided to pursure this profession, before I started working my ass off trying to raise gpa, volunteer, study for the dat. fml if i dont get in.

I didn't give up any friends. My best friend, Chad, is always there for me.

I told my friends i'll see them in 2 months. If they are real friends, they can wait.

Take a break every once in a while. Don't burn your yourself out. But if you're hanging out for 2-3+ days in a row then you better worry.

lol!! i havnt seen my "friends" in like 3 months. and strag is right, Chad is my bestfriend, i love chad.
but really, screw friends, you dont need them......make friends in dental schoool.

Hey I had to turn down going to an all expense paid bachelor party in Vegas last night so I could study for the DAT. While my friends were getting girls' tata's rubbed in their face I sat at home and read about TATA boxes 🙁

I bet the second you get a great DAT score you will be so glad you shot them down.

i thought i was the only one gaining weight!!!!!! ive gained at LEAST 15 lbs...i cant wait to workout crazy after this exam and get skinny again....damnittttt

I can't wait to have my life back- August 3 at about 2:00 in the afternoon I'm heading to my cabin, a place I haven't been since starting studying...CAN'T WAIT! I'm with ya on the extra pounds, this new spare tire has found a nice home on my waist, I'm a little anxious to lose it! Hopefully I'll wind up 20+ and will really be able to relax!

it happens. I spent my last semester in the books non-stop. Basically stopped going to happy hour and going out every night. Yes, it sucks and also kinda depressing watching all your friends go out and have fun. It was bad for me because I had my DAT 6 days after my graduation. So when everyone else was partying there asses off that night i had to go take a practice dat. Just keep a good perception about it, suck it up until your done then go buck wild...it'll be worth it.

If you're smart you can balance DAT/school/friends.
Shouldn't have to compromise your free time with your studying if you plan.

Oh man... you're talking about turning down friends... I had to turn down cousins who are going on a beach trip a week before my exam... 🙁

I had it even worse. I had to turn down a vacation with the gf

Turned down friends for DAT? No big deal 🙄... During 1.5 months of study, my mom came to visit me from out of U.S, and I had to "turn down" her many times too. I felt terribly bad but she understood, and luckily, my sister made up time to hang out with her.
I'm on the other side about the weight part. I've lost almost 7lbs for the DAT.

Once you're done with DAT and your score isn't bad, you'll definitely feel great and the sacrifice is worth it. After the test, the fun part of hanging out with friends will be double. Good luck. :luck:

same here. Your true friends will be there waiting for you when you are done with this one journey. Its better to make the best of your time now, than trying to bait into what your chances are getting into dental school when your out til 3 in the morning with friends.

It definetely sucks espeiclaly studying in the summer time b/c you constantly see people having one and you feel like the biggest boring ***. that being said, I try to do lunch/dinner with friends. Just quick 1 hour breaks to reenergize myself and keep going. The way I see it...its only about 2-3 months of studying...and then if you are like me you can go back to school and enjoy your senior year 🙂 nothing in life comes without hard work...and one day we will all be reeping the benefits.
