I put it into Turnitin's Writecheck (which searches the turnitin database but doesn't save your paper), and I got 0% similarity. But now I am worried about Turnitin for Admissions, which checks other application essays, and I don't think Turnitin Writecheck uses that database..

The neuroticism is strong this morning

I haven't heard of any school doing any kind of automated plagiarism check of application materials, I'm guessing because they assume that people wouldn't be that stupid.

Regardless, you should avoid using other people's materials - not only because it isn't the most ethical thing, but also because your application should be yours and about you. I don't think using other people's descriptions of their own story is the best way to go about telling your own story.

All the sentences applied to me as well, they are not written entirely word for word, and aren't in consecutive order, but they are very similar.

If you copy-pasted and changed a few superficial things yes that's bad. If you read it and said "hey that's a nice way to phrase it" and modeled your sentences after his/her PS, then you consciously did what we all do subconsciously, which is imitate good form.

What?!? Neurotic thoughts and behaviors from a Premed?!? I never heard of such a thing!

I am adding this my list of criteria for proposed inclusion of a new disorder in DSM-IV:

PREMED : Psychotic Reactionary Event Manifestation Exclusionary Disorder

A disorder that is a psychotic reaction the events around applying to medical schools that manifests itself in the exclusion of rational thought. Seemingly highly intelligent, high achieving students are most susceptible to this disorder. Loss of major rational thought and reactions to unsubstantiated beliefs, rumors, innuendos, and other irrational and illogical cognitive processes. A form of collective behavior.

Can we make this a thing pls

I feel I heard business schools admissions use turnitin but not necessarily medical schools
