can someone give me info on what the tuspm interview is like? how many people interview? how long it is? how many other prospective students also have interviews? who is (are) the interviewer(s)?

First like to congrats on getting an interview and good luck... Alright to start it off, Dave Martin takes you on a tour of center city philly. During the trip, you stop off at diabetic foot care center in temple's main campus area. Next one of the admissions office assistants takes you on a tour of the facilities on campus. Then, after that is complete, you get to follow a few of the third or fourth yr podiatry students around in the clinic at tuspm. After this, they have a finicial aid representative talk to all the interviewees. Around 12 pm, they give you lunch and also they had 2 podiatry students eat lunch with us. Once you are finished, then you get to be interviewed by one of the podiatrist facility members. Its one on one. I got questions asked mostly based from what I had in my application. Next you finish off by having dave martin ask you more questions in a group interview in front of the rest of the interviewees. Honestly it was not that bad. I got interviewed 11/28 and I got my acceptance letter 12/6, and my background is not that stellar. In my group there was 4 other people, and I was off campus by 330. Anyways.. i know it was a long post, but again good luck

I interviewed at the Dr. Scholls school in Chicago and it was amazging. I interviewd at Ohio, Iowa, and Temple, and none of them even come close. Scholl has an incredible facility, amazing anatomy and gait lab, and their curriculum is well integrated with the RFU medical school. But the best part about Scholl, from what I learned at the interview, is that their whole misson is to emphasis the "healthcare team" and how each profession is essential. This is why in their clinic you will see MD's, DPM's, PA's, PT's, and nurses. And everyone works together as a team, rather than keeping distance b/c my degree is better than yours BS.
If you havent interviewd at Scholl yet, then you are missing out. I cant imagine anyone considering a career in podiatry without checking out Scholl. Oh and by the way, not everyone gets in like what others have been saying. For the 2005 entering class, they recieved 550 applicants, sent out 150 interview invitations, and accepted only 86. So good luck to all!!!

550 applications and 150 invitations is a good statistic. I've always said that people who get an interview have a really good chance of getting in. The people that they don't want are weeded aout earlier. However, the 86 accepted for 150 interviewed cannot be seen in the same way. Scholl was not the one who eliminated all 64 of those interviewees. Many of them decided to go elsewhere. I am one of those who was interviewed at Scholl, but decided to go elsewhere. I still firmly believe that you have a really, good chance of getting in if you get the interview.

Agreed. Of the selective schools, they are very careful on who they invite for interviews. Speaking for DMU, they will select or at least waitlist the majority of those that they invite for an interview (the applicant pool being similar to Scholl). But they usually accept around 75 understanding that around 25 will be accepted and choose to go somewhere else (crazy SOB's!!!), thus giving them a starting class of around 50.

Don't worry the interview is simple.. They basically just sell you on the school/program more than anything else. They accept almost 80-90% of the applicants. I applied online, was invited to an interview an hour later, got accepted 1 week after the interview. I know someone who interviewed the day before classes started and was let into the program!
If you really want to go into podiatry, TUSPM is the school to go to! Philly's great, the affliation with Temple is great, the school's a little old, but who cares. Good luck! 👍

You meet in the morning with David Martin and he talks about the school, asks general questions such as where are you from, what clubs are you in etc... just ice breaker questions. There is usually a small group of people interviewing on the same day, so he wants to make you feel comfortable.
You then go on a short tour of the building, then shadow a DPM for about 30 minutes, eat lunch and then have the actual interview with a faculty member.
Questions include:
-Why do you want to be a podiatrist?
-Are you willing to sacrifice 4 more years of school?
-Do you know what a podiatrist does?
-if your not from Philly, Do you think you would be able to move to Philly?
-Tell me about your favorite undergraduate class?
-Talk about one thing you did in school to manage time...

I really wouldn't worry about the interview, its very laid back, just be yourself!
As long as you have around a 3.0GPA and a 20 on the MCAT you'll do fine! Also, they'll want to know if you're willing to sign promisory notes for up to $200,000 in student loans!!!!! Its pretty intimidating but its life. 😱

what kind of questions did dave martin ask in front of the rest of the interviewees? im kind of shy

He just asked things like how was your hotel stay? How did you come to the city... drive/fly, etc? Nothing too pressing or anything that will affect you as a candidate. He may ask you to explain some clubs/work activities that you did.. basically just small talk. 😴
Honestly.. a podiatry school interview is not something to worry about. The applicant pool is not as high as some other grad programs, so as long as you got an interview you'll be fine.
I applied and interviewed at some PA schools and their interviews were much tougher than the podiatry interview. There is a larger applicant pool for PA school's, surprisingly higher than podiatry school.
Dave Martin will also want to know if you have interviews with other podiatry schools or even other programs. Be honest, if you tell him you do it speeds up the process of your acceptance.. They want to solidify the class ASAP.
Have you interviewed with any other pod. schools or even other programs.. it is good to get some interview experience from the school you don't want to go to first, then you can use the questions they asked and build upon them and have a great interview with the school you really want to go to!

You have the right to cancel or request a lower amount at any time up to dispersal. You won't, however, be elligible to receive any funds until you sign it. In fact, you probably won't even be awarded any money at all until you sign it.
