I got a 3.64 GPA and 3.30 sGPA for the first two years at a community college, and I'll be transferring to a UC college this fall. Would it be worth it for me to get a tutor to study for DAT?

For those of you who have experience, and based on my stats, would it be worth it to get a tutor? Or would it be sufficient for me to just get a book for it...I don't really have a great memory in terms of remembering all of the material.

Thanks! Any tips welcome!

I self-studied. No need to get a tutor. Sometimes tutors don't know everything.

I was in very similar situation. I studied at CC and transferred to UCD. My advice is to take care your school first. It can be little struggling to get yourself adapted to new quarter system. Once you get used to your new school, you can start go over the DAT materials and decide if you need a tutor. I took the DAT twice, studied by myself, managed good scores. It's very doable, but everyone has different ways to learn things.

Self-studied, used Crack The DAT. GL

No need for a tutor; Find discounted/re-used study materials for the DAT, shell out for the Destroyer if you must, and do well in all your relevant undergrad classes. You will be fine!

I personally had a tutor which I thought it worked really well for me, since I received a 22. Which UC are you transferring to? If you go UCR or UCI, I can recommend you to the guy that tutor me

I also studied at a CC before transferring to UCB. I personally don't recommend a tutor because it's really risky to put one of the biggest test of your life into the hands of someone whom you don't even know. I'm not saying tutoring won't help you, but you should be able to study on your own with decent amount of motivation and planned schedules.

And I agree with evanyou. Get used to your new school first before thinking about your DAT because there WILL BE a lot going on for your first quarter/semester. Take care of your grades first, then think about leaving out a block of time for your DAT studying.

There are a ton of resources on SDN that will for sure prepare you for a 20+. Customize your materials, set up your studying schedule and DAT test date, then you should be good to go.

dont get tutor bro, no need. rely on yourself / peer ..etc. its a good way of life
