Twitter is a dumpster fire.
It’s becoming what elon musk always wanted…the public square!! A ****ing 24/7 clown show.
Are you guys referring to the business or the product? As far as the product, I've used Twitter both before and after Musk purchased it and it's the exact same.

Typical right wing snowflake talking point. Twitter has for sure declined with much more garbage on there now but a left-wing “meltdown” just isn’t there. I assume you are in favor of him reinstating Kanye West?I tell you, watching the extreme left melt down over Elon’s Twitter has been such a joy to watch. It has been very funny. Elon has also been very funny.
"Typical right wing snowflake talking point?" Am I one if I need ask, what's a "Typical right wing snowflake?"
Nunes cannot sue Twitter over accounts posing as his mother and a cow, judge rules | CNN Politics
California Republican Rep. Devin Nunes cannot sue Twitter over allegedly defamatory remarks made about him by satirical accounts pretending to be his mother and a cow, a Virginia judge ruled Wednesday.

Oh that’s good to know! As a non-right winger, I’d hate to be pushing their agenda. So if I see a meltdown from the left, what should I call it as not to be perceived as a right wing snowflake? I need to really get the words right. I should take a page from CBS. They are great at words. This is how they described the event when two people were killed from a Palestinian terrorist bombing.Typical right wing snowflake talking point. I don’t really care who is on Twitter to be honest. I can only trust Elon will do as he says and not allow people on the platform who violate the terms of service. If he (Kanye) violated the terms of service, he shouldn’t be on.

Probably hard to find since right wing politicians seem to fly away to mexico at the first sign of snow

The venn diagram overlap between those who bemoan cancel culture and those who want to remove LGBT or CRT books from schools probably captures a lot of them.

They love to cry "cancel culture" but get their feelings hurt easily.

You mean like half of the woke democrats, and probably a ton of those on Twitter? He made antisemitic remarks.
When a conservative broke the TOS, it was promptly enforced. When the left was masking antisemitic remarks (e.g the "Squad"), nobody was banned.
And let's not forget the total a$$hole move when they specifically allowed Trump to keep his Twitter account, despite breaking every single rule, because it was in the "pub(l)ic interest", aka it was increasing readership, meaning advertising income.
I won't shed one tear for the previous Twitter leadership. I hope they all go to hell for what they have done to the country along the years. And all the extremists on both sides with them.

No, but then neither should be a ton of other people who have used that platform to spew their hate along the years. Again, those who come to mind are people on the left, for the simple reason that Twitter were pretty good at enforcing the TOS when it suited their woke workforce.Do you think he should still be on twitter?

The woke democrats are as antisemitic as the right. Maybe even more. They just hide it behind their concern for the Palestinians. I'm talking about how they behave towards American Jews, e.g. on college campuses. Let's not mention all the traditionally democrat groups (Catholics, Muslims, blacks) who have an above average percentage of antisemitic sympathies. The democrats don't have problems with antisemitism, neo-nazis and white supremacists.
You may not know about the hate on the left, because it's not featured in the left-dominated mainstream media, the same way Hunter Biden wasn't. But read both sides, watch what they do, and you'll notice the similarities.
And I don't see how non-white supremacists are better than white ones, or hateful Marxists than the neo-nazis. This country (like many others) has a highly uneducated population (when about world history), so it's not as if Marxist socialism could never happen here and we should mostly be afraid of the right. I'm afraid of all extremists, of all haters. Nobody's really safe from them; they tend to eat even their own, sooner or later.

Twitter was a dumpster fire long before Musk took over and will continue to burn away as he drives the business side of it into the ground. I could care less about Twitter but watching the fireworks has certainly been fun.
And now Apple is reportedly threatening to remove Twitter from the App Store. Things are getting spicy it seems!

Elon Musk claims Apple has threatened to remove the Twitter app
Musk even tweeted out a meme that suggested he was "going to war" with Apple over paying 30%.
It is hilarious to me that the best defense for the "rights" antisemitic views is "well the far left does it too." As if that makes it ok.

To boot, it's not even a true claim anyway. The right sees the left being against the politics of ultra-right nationalistic Israeli PMs and falsely conflates that with being "antisemitic."

This is how antisemitism on the woke left looks. Just do a web search for antisemitism on campus.

Only those who don't want to see it can't. Reminds me of Neville Chamberlain.
Btw, the hateful tweet she mentions, in the first sentence, is still up on Twitter, 18 months later:

To the Antisemites Who Sit Next to Me at School
My NYU classmates talk about the 'Zionist grip on the media' and tweet 'death to Israel.'
All of you have done more than I ever could to convince my fellow Jews that the left doesn’t just have a Corbyn problem or a Tlaib problem or a Farrakhan problem. It has a big, fat Jew-hatred problem right in its ideological core.

And the hate on the left is by far not just about Israel:
When you understand that, you can understand why NYU’s administration and its manifold social justice groups, who have sent out five-alarm-fire emails about shootings in Atlanta, Derek Chauvin’s conviction, and anti-Asian bigotry, have never breathed a word about Jews in their backyard being beaten in broad daylight. We have never been admonished to say the name Mindy Ferencz. Or Josef Neumann. Or Moshe Deutsch.
It is why, when NYU students wearing kippot in the West Village have been harassed and stalked and told they aren’t “real Jews” but slavers and usurers, we are met with little more than a shrug. The other day a man on the subway stood over me—I wear a kippah and therefore can’t pass—and told the whole car that black people were still enslaved to me because the Jews are cultural kingmakers.
Sorry, you tell us. That’s just life in the big city. Your suffering is not systemic, so it really doesn’t warrant our attention. You say Jews are powerful—rich, white, influential—so why should a few incidents cause concern?

How did you even come close to concluding this!!?
I mean…holy crap man….
How about just saying…”yep, anti-semitism is really bad when the left does it and when the right does it. Good job pointing that out..”. ?
I am forever baffled and blown away how people are such much in love with their side.
How about just being in love with the plight for the human condition? In love with the idea of justice and mercy and love, no matter what side it comes from? I have tried listening to podcasts, read books, and tried to understand why people are so political and can’t see past their red or blue nose. I seriously cannot understand it.

Lol…. yes, everyone knows the left are the real antisemites.
That’s why 70% of American Jews are democrats. That’s why 23/27 Jewish US House reps are democrats. That’s why 10/10 Jewish US senators are democrats. That’s why the Senate Majority Leader is Jewish.
That’s why the last time the far left fielded a presidential candidate, it was a famous gentile named Bernie Sanders. Oh wait…..lmao

And because 12/12 apostles were Jewish, let's not mention their leader Jesus Christ, there was no way Christians would have ever persecuted Jews. Like e-ver.

Not familiar with this as well. I wish I could give you a position but I’m not decided. Obviously not all books should be allowed and not all viewpoints and books banned. Is this just a right wing issue or does the left engage in this as well? (ie- is this tit for tat?)
This seems to support the fact that the left is snowflakes and threatened boycott of twitters advertisers to get there way. Am I reading or interpreting this wrong? Are you okay with some snowflakes and banning? All snowflakes? No snowflakes?
And left wing politicians seem to fly to Florida immediately after condemning their policies there. I’m okay with either going where they want when they want.Probably hard to find since right wing politicians seem to fly away to mexico at the first sign of snow

I am intensely against all of these. I don’t know any Americans that are okay with them. Just so you know that real world right doesn’t support this. I’m also against antifa as well and hope everyone is not for them. The democrats don't have problems with antisemitism, neo-nazis and white supremacists.
Ooooooorrrrrr advertisers (being the money grubbing bastards they are) realized that associating their brand with an increasingly toxic website isn't good for their revenue numbers regardless of what the "snowflakes" as you call them want. Cause let's be honest here: advertisers could give two ****s about the left or the right, as long as they are pulling in money. This seems to support the fact that the left is snowflakes and threatened boycott of twitters advertisers to get there way. That's a weird take, I thought conservatives were in favor of letting businesses do what they wish with their money. Instead of coercing them to support a platform which will place their product ad right next to a post from an unbanned 4chan troll spewing epithets.
Businesses think continuing to advertise on twitter is a bad investment, full stop. They don't care about woke vs non woke crap, they just want to make money. Whiny baby Elon is the one trying to make advertiser pull out political.

Do you really think 94% of American companies promptly implemented DEI and other Marxist measures because it was good for profits, or because most of their workforce asked for it? Or for fear of social media and "cancellation" by a very noisy and tech-savvy minority?Ooooooorrrrrr advertisers (being the money grubbing bastards they are) realized that associating their brand with an increasingly toxic website isn't good for their revenue numbers regardless of what the "snowflakes" as you call them want. Do you think they are all afraid of Musk running Twitter, and don't want him to succeed, because of hate speech? (I don't see any more hate speech than before.) Or because the woke suddenly lost a huge weapon for bullying corporations and people, and will do anything to see Musk fail, to teach a lesson to any other mogul who dares challenging them, who doesn't "bend the knee"?
And due to the woke monopoly on most high tech platforms and corporations in this country (as I said, 94%), moderate Americans cannot vote with their feet and punish a company such as Apple, because it's not like the alternatives are much better. Not until there is a meaningful change in Washington which legislates against all this racist craziness.
I find it hypocritical (and par for the course) that those who would fight against bullying in school are totally OK with bullying in the public square, if it's done by their side.

I also think 99% of the population should not stand on their heads to make a less than 1% with gender dysphoria feel better. And yes, it's mostly the woke who are delusional about this.
Same way I think that trans people should be treated with kindness, like most people with mental health problems, not hated upon.

I'm not looking for an argument on the appropriate amount of times to use woke in an online discussion or anything, I just think that narrowing all these political issues down to one woke argument is a little unreasonable. He seems pretty reasonable to me.

I came from a strong center-left position (would have never even considered voting republican, because they were the party of the boogeymen). The woke (aka the "progressives") were the ones who pushed me to the right. You're absolutely right I can't stand them; they remind me of the communists too much, they just ooze hate.Mostly he is. The current Democratic party has also changed, not just the Republicans. It used to be center-left, now it's left-left, obsessed with power at any price. While the progressives are a small part of them, their agenda has penetrated the party's agenda. Just look at the student loan fiasco; it's ridiculous in a country already saddled by debt, and in a system in which people get easy student loans for the stupidest and most worthless college degrees.

…Except that isn’t what happened. You probably aren’t aware but activist made an agreement with Musk to not boycott. Then they reneged. Then they submitted protest/boycott to companies. Otherwise I agree about about advertisers. I believe the left is much more astute at weaponizing boycotts. I don’t think the companies care about “toxic” twitter. They worry about “toxic” activist.
Let’s be honest, twitter/social media is toxic even with certain rules in place. As FFP stated above, twitter only became a problem for them when they couldn’t control it.
And why withdraw advertising before it turns toxic? Twitter hasn’t changed. It is like precrime. Guilty and punished before the crime is even committed. Twitter is condemned in the present for what they think it will be in the future. Why not let this free speech thing play out? But that isn’t the real issue. Again, the issue is that it is no longer under their control
…Except that isn’t what happened. You probably aren’t aware but activist made an agreement with Musk to not boycott. Then they reneged.
No they didn't. Pretty much every group at the meeting said there was no deal.
But by all means, don't let facts get in the way of this fascinating conspiracy theory where a bunch of groups with little influence are capable of swaying how multibillion dollar corporations use their multimillion dollar ad budgets.
Have you all considered that maybe, just maybe, if you're an ad director you'd want to see how the dust settles if the new fangled CEO of Twitter is posting like this at all hours of the day and night?
I find it surprising that everyone hates Twitter now that it is owned by an African-American.

It is well understood that it is legal in the US to assemble in public and waive nazi flags and literally say whatever horrible thing you want in the public square. The ACLU used to defend this. To stand on the corner with a sign that says obviously false things. It was taught in civics why this freedom was so important even if it resulted in awful people expressing awful things.
There are two issues:
1. A large swath of the public no longer agrees with this freedom.
2. Is Twitter a public square? The founders couldn't have predicted the internet, but there's no inherent reason why the public square must be a physical space. This is the question that needs to be answered. If it's not a public square, then nobody has a right to be Twitter. If it is, then everybody does. Unless number 1 above is successfully challenged.
Regardless, just like the hateful bigots marching in the park or the crazy person on the sidewalk screaming about the rapture with a megaphone, the main people using this freedom on the virtual public square will be the same ultra fringe wackos as those on the physical public square. Best to just ignore them on both fronts.

How or why do you think this happened?
Is it possible that smart, creative, hardworking people that build these companies happen to be woke? Is it possible that the customers that they serve also happen to be woke?
If somebody doesn’t like woke, they have alternate platforms like Truth Social, 4chan, and Parler where they can hang with like minded people.
There are two issues:
It is a story of tremendous courage to stand up for at the time was right.
People were up in arms then, too.
However, we seemed to have swung even further against the idea that ACTUAL free speech matters. The ACLU will no longer defend this side.

We have a right to speech but are not owed an audience or a private platform to amplify our voices.
And Twitter does not have a right to advertisers. The advertisers can come and go as they please. It is not a constitutional issue. It is not even a legal issue if a contract was not broken.
