Hello,

I am wondering if this would make sense to med schools. I have research interests both in psychiatry and immunology, and I have done both basic science research (in immunology) and clinical research (in psychiatry). What I eventually want to do in med school is immunology research, but I wrote in my PS about patient interaction I had in psychiatric unit, since it should be a personal story rather than a bench research description.

Does this sound like I'm "torn" between two different interests, not knowing where to go? Is it generally recommended that I pursue a specific disease or specialty throughout my college years?

Thanks a lot!!! 🙂

Nothing wrong with that and no need to worry about choosing a specific disease or specialty research interest in undergrad...everyone knows interests can change. In fact, your interests are not even necessarily mutually exclusive: in neuroimmunology, one could study the role immunology plays in causing neurological or psychological disorders.
