So one of my prompts is along the lines of "explain how you contribute to diversity of thought". I have two ideas for this:

1. Talk about my experiences and how they've contributed to my thought processes when facing adversities, making sure to cite examples.

2. Talk about two unrelated things in different paragraphs:
  • Principles from a not-so-common religion that I have carried with me throughout my life, even though I'm not exactly religious anymore
  • The way I like to learn things
I've actually already written the essay following my ideas from 1, but it seems like it's just a disguised adversity essay. Is that okay?

To your last question, yes, that should be okay since the question seems like a Disguised Adversity Question. Just make sure you are really answering their question about “thought.”

It’s hard to weigh in when the first idea you give us is very vague and the second is more specific. But I could see both working.

Having an insider knowledge of a not so common religion will add a diversity of thought to the class even if you do not practice that faith. It may help you understand where people of that faith are coming from and may help you care for them as patients or to related to them as coworkers. It think that it would be the better choice.
