And that day was today!

I still haven't heard from the 2 places where I interviewed in January and February, and have a 3rd feeler out on a possible temporary job, but this just blows me away.

😎

Thanks! I've been lucky to get one response a month, of any kind.

Congrats!

I got a voicemail yesterday about a chemistry job that I applied to almost 3 years ago, hopefully the job market is waking up?

I heard that from few people today as they were looking for jobs after they finish their schooling around may or june.

Congrats! best of luck at the interviews!

The chief pharmacist at the larger of the two facilities called me back about an hour ago, and the phone interview is scheduled on Tuesday morning. I didn't tell him, but after that's done, I'm headed to the mall to buy the new R.E.M. album.

You can listen to it on this link; it's really, really good. 😍 :highfive: :soexcited:

That will be a good day. Even if I end up not getting that job, hey, it's a start.

You are so random. Good Luck!

They were supposed to call me 45 minutes ago, and I haven't heard a peep from them. 😕 I'll give it another half hour and then let my cats out of the bedroom and go about my day.

Unless some kind of emergency came up, if this is how they do things, I don't want that job either. 👎

No. You should've called them about 15 minutes ago. You shouldn't be passive and just let things be. You have to let them know you want the job, even if it means following up every week with every place you applied for for either half a year or until they tell you they hired someone else. Apparently it's the only way things get done, and me not understanding this previously is why I still work in retail.

The chief pharmacist called me back and said that they had all written it down for the 9th! Interesting, he told me that it would be Tuesday, the 8th. Anyway, we're all on board for tomorrow morning.

Mission accomplished! He asked me why I was laid off from my last job, and I said, "It's been almost a year." He didn't press me further.

Therefore you're still unemployed...
Don't highlight the time that you've been unemployed. Just explain the circumstances and make them sound as favorable as possible.

The question was pretty straight forward, I can't see why you would try to circumvent it...besides if they really wanted to know I'm sure they could just call your past employer.

That was obvious from my resume and online application.

I just got an e-mail regarding an interview and hotel reservation. 👍 It's in about a month; he told me it might be a while.

At least there's SOME hope, KWIM?

Okay, folks, why don't you just be like the poster on another board who flat out told me that I'll probably never work, as a pharmacist or anything else, ever again?

:boom:

Do you think I haven't been dealing with that very likely possibility for the past year? Last time I checked, BTW, all a previous employer can legally tell anyone is that the person worked there and when.

The emphasis of this morning's interview was on telling me what kinds of things they do there (it's a very large hospital affiliated with a medical school) and they must have thought I was okay or they wouldn't be paying for my motel room!

I was kicked out to make room for the son of one of the big shots, something they denied but when I confronted them, they sputtered. Try telling someone that in an interview and see how far you get. Ask me how I know this.

Could it be that your expectations are too high? Maybe you expect more from them than favoritism?

Someone was chosen over me for a job, and she turned out to be "weird". Eventually she quit or got fired, and then they were acting like they wanted to hire me during P4 rotations for a pharmacist job after I graduated.

Hopefully you didn't burn a bridge by confronting them, but it seems like you might have.

You may not always be first in mind, but that can easily change. What if the higher up's son is a complete goober, and they would have rather had you?

Perhaps you should keep mum, cross your fingers and do whatever you have to do behind the curtains, so to speak. Once you have the elusive, prized possession, then come to the boards and we will share the joy.

The minute you announce the interview-invites with excitement, you are setting yourself up if things do not go as expected. My two cents.

wish you luck.

Congrats!! That's awesome!! Good luck with your interviews!!!

He's not; he worked there for a couple of summers as a student, and I really liked him and was looking forward to working with him. And I've been told by more than one person that they have lied to him and treated him like crap; the only reason I can fathom (I won't go into further detail here because it could identify him) why he came to work there is because they would forgive $24,000 in student loans if he works there for 3 years.

BTW, I found out that I didn't get hired for one of the jobs I mentioned earlier in the thread; I was surprised they even interviewed people at all because that place used a lot of per diems and part-timers.

It's just that I had gotten practically nothing for a long time, and then TWO IN A DAY? 👍

Right now, I'm in another city where I used to live, and went to an Ash Wednesday service at my old church. A lady who goes there works at a hospital (although not in the pharmacy) where I interviewed last summer, and I mentioned to her that I wasn't all that disappointed that I hadn't gotten that job, because I had never heard anything good about the pharmacy at that place. Guess what? She hadn't either, and you wanna talk about goobers? Yeah, that.

I have an interview scheduled for Tuesday morning; they contacted me last week, and I only vaguely recall even applying for this job! Thing is, I have a really bad feeling about this, so I'm probably going to call them on Monday and cancel the interview. I'll tell them that something's come up and I can't make the trip, and I can always reschedule.

😕 😳

I would go to see what they are about. In this market and the length of time you've been unemployed...I wouldn't pass up any opportunity...unless there is a good reason why you have a bad feeling.

Actually, my gut feeling that's saying "DON'T DO THIS" is really, really strong, and I've learned that when it's this way, it happens for a reason. Maybe this is the job for me, but I'll get in a really bad car wreck or something.

You're really weird.

I am starting to think you are a troll, if you are not.....well then I must agree with above posters. Odd duck but then again so am I...

I was going to post the same thing. This is a really strange person. Too many conspiracies, too many gut feelings. When I know people like this, I want to ask them which scenario is more likely - the entire world is crazy or you are? What's the common denominator?

Gosh, I hate to just pile it on, but I am going to go ahead and agree - she is an odd bird. What a strange thing to say/do. It may just be because of the nature of online posts, perhaps she is perfectly normal IRL?

I got a call this morning to see if I was interested in a tech job at a place I applied while I was in undergrad. I explained to them that I applied and had an interview 2 years ago and that I'm an intern now, but the guy just seemed confused. "So... you don't want to work here?"

Has it occurred to none of you that I might be lurking on this board?

You always seem to be dead on. 🙂

And we're curious why he hasn't found a job? Not really...

I figured it was a given. You have to admit, you sound strange. There was a big drama with your last job and then there's a reason why these other jobs aren't going to work. You have a bad feeling, they don't call you when you expected them to, you won't tell a future employer why you were laid off, you want to lie about why you won't go to a scheduled interview. Don't get me wrong, I wish good for you, but maybe you might see why you might look strange to us and to potential employers? Seeing that might give you some insight into why this has been a struggle for you. JMO.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a lady.

I was certain it was a "he."

I have been wrong in the past...I thought njac was a he, I thought Glycerin was Asian, and I thought Z was a really old creepy white guy. The only thing that is true out of those is that Z is creepy.

I think it's a guy. A weird guy with a distinct loser vibe, which will make finding a job even harder.

Wow...do you know how hard it is to find a job these days? Just bc that employer didnt meet your standards of replying "on time" doesn't mean they are disorganize and doesn't mean you should "look down" on them. Take the opportunity to call them back.

But...that's not even a reason to refuse an interview....why? If you're afraid, that's fine, but in life we must face our fears straight on. You'll never know how the job is if you don't try to see how it is...Especially if you're going by "your stomach feeling".......

......

You have to remember that we're also on this board. You posted on here and people will be straightforward. Personally, I think that's a good thing, but I don't know if you think the same.

I think it is actually Charlie Sheen after the loading dose of crack begins to wear off...

I've been wrong a lot too; if people don't have an explicitly male or female handle or avatar, I'm lost.

I did call them back, and had a phone interview the next day. They also scheduled an in person interview for next month (JCAHO inspections is the reason for the delay).

And the people I have spoken to IRL about cancelling this week's interview are very supportive. Why should I waste their time, my time, my gasoline, etc. doing something I'm not comfortable doing?
