An organization I have volunteered with this semester has offered to write me a LOR. Being as my committee packet is already in the works, I will have to submit this letter separately. The problem is that I was going to ask another faculty member for a letter since I already have a letter from a volunteer program I have been involved with for 2 years. No doubt this potential LOR will be strong, but I thought having 2 volunteer and only 2 faculty LORs may not look the best.

NOTE: My committee packet has: 2 science faculty, 1 dentist, 1 volunteer.

You met the basic requirements, so no need to fret.

For your last letter, go with what you think will help you the most, which to me seems like the letter from the organization you volunteered at.

Best of luck~

You can submit 1 commitee letter and 1 other letter on AADSAS. If you want to submit other letters to schools you have to send them directly.

It is reccomended the second letter is from the dentist you shadowed.

Should I bother getting another letter from faculty? The professor loves me, but I'm really not sure how much they'll be able to say since I only had them for one class...

Like I said, you met the requirements. Anything extra is completely up to you. I would pick the supplemental letter from a person that I believe would write a strong letter of recommendation for me, which from your first statement seems to be your volunteer coordinator. Given the time spent with the volunteer program, I'm sure the volunteer coordinator may know you more personally then say your professor, which I feel would help make a better letter. Again, if you feel that it's weird to have two letters from volunteering programs that's just you. Like @Likkriue said, some schools (mines didn't) will take additional letters outside AADSAS. Email them and inquire that about it if you really want to.

What makes you think this letter will be strong? You've only volunteered for the organization for a single semester. Will they really have something new to say about your work ethic, commitment, and personality, that your other volunteer organization hasn't said already?

I would refrain from obtaining additional LORs. A committee letter, 2 faculty, dentist, and a volunteer organizer is enough. If you add more letters, you risk diluting your application.

I believe he mentioned 2 years, not a single semester. While diluting the application with a fourth letter is certainly a possibility, if he or she knows for sure it'll be a strong letter, (IMHO) by all means include it since the letter will only help reinforce the applicant's work ethic, commitment, and personality from another prospective.

Best of luck~
