Two questions about the actual exam?

What lab values do they give you?

Were you allowed to use ear plugs during the test? I have heard contradicting stories.

FRED has most normal lab values. UW replicates the list pretty accurately. USMLE.org has further info.

You can use earplugs they supply you with. Mine were pretty good, but I heard it depends on the centre.

Damnit, I was going to copy the entire big robbins onto some earplugs in .0001 font. I mean really, can't they just give your earplugs a quick glance to make sure they don't have a radio in them or something. It is not like it would be tough to tell.

Actually most centers don't offer ear plugs, they provide headphones, which are painful and ineffective. You cannot bring your own plugs/phones though. So learn to shut out distractions.

Prometrics in Frankfurt wouldn´t let me enter the computer room until I get rid of my chewing gum.

It could have a transmitter in it and you could stick it to the roof your mouth thereby transmitting the answers by bone conduction. duh.

I was allowed (today) to bring my own foam earplugs into the exam room. The proctor (or whatever you call them) was really nice like my grandma. Now, off to the islands!

Just visit the site you have registered and ask them. I went with a couple buddies and played around with the earmuffs a bit.

Anyhow, its a good idea to scout out the place ahead of time. Check the parking situation and nearby fast food joints/7-elevens.

i bought my own lunch as i dont trust outside food on the day of the exam. i may be a bit paranoid, but my GI always have given me problems on big exams...a bad sandwich from a fast food place can just send me running for the toilet during a block...
