1. I took AP 1&2, medical terminology, and a couple of social science and humanities courses at the age of 16 (3 years ago). If I'm applying into the class of 2018/2019 (fall '15 entry), will those credits generally still be valid?

2. I am retaking ochem 1&2, physics 2, and calculus due to grade/gpa reasons. I got a C in OChem 1 and a W in Ochem 2 because I missed 2 weeks of school due to a family emergency and came back to a winter storm that closed my school for 3 days. For that same reason I am retaking physics 2 (D) and calculus(D) over again. The rest of my grades are A's and B's. As previously mentioned, I wish to apply for fall '15 entry to about 10 schools, but I wanted to know how to go about mentioning that in going to retake these courses in pharmcas. Also, is it bad that in retaking these 4? I'm not done with my pre-reqs. There were 3 classes that weren't offered at my school so I have to finish those also. I will finish everything completely in spring '15.

Thanks.

In pharmcas I believe you need to select the courses you are going to retake as "planned"

And to answer your question is it bad that you are retaking those courses?

Well yes, of course it is. But you gotta do what you gotta do and hope that some schools will give you the benefit of the doubt since your pharmcas gpa I believe will average your gpa for your retakes.

I am not sure if those grades would be valid but you would have to report them. I took a class when I was 16 too (6 years ago) and I am applying to schools this cycle and they told me that I would have to put the class on pharmacs and submit a transcript

It will depend on the school. Some schools will put an arbitrary time limitation on how recently pre-recs must be taken. A few schools I know of have a 5 year rule, but this can be waived if you have been continuously enrolled in school or have been employed in that area. Most schools however, do not have any such limitations. They will, however, need a recent PCAT.

I calculated my pharmcas gpa by hand using the information on their website (it was 1 in the am and I had nothing else to do after studying for my exam) and its at a 2.92xxx. If I finish out my bachelors and retake those classes (and presumably get an A on each one), my pharmcas gpa will be at 3.4. One of the courses I took, the dean actually appealed the grade for the entire class/section that was registered to that professor. On the bottom of my transcript, it states " Math XX not calculated in GPA due to blah blah blah". Will pharmcas disregard that class or will they still count the D? If they disregard that class/grade then my pharmcas gpa will be at least at the 3.0 mark.

Honestly I have no idea. I haven't heard of that happening in the past.

My professor was crazy, insensitive, and quite dangerous. All 72 students went to the dean and even the ones who got A's did. Two days before the final, everyone in each section did not attend class. Instead, we attended a meeting with the dean. So basically, the course is supposed to be forgotten about, but will pharmcas forget about it also? Or do I have to write about it in my personal statement.

I do not think personal statement is the appropriate place to write about that incident as it is more about why you do pharmacy and talking about the positive thing about you. Usually on secondary application, there is usually a place that ask you whether there is anything you would like the adcom to know about, which I think you could use to explain this situation there. Or you can explain during your interview if they bring up that one.

I believe that you still need to include that class and grade for the calculation for PharmCAS GPA as the general rule is that you have to include ALL class that you have ever taken from ALL college you have ever attended. But give PharmCAS a call to find out.

I thought about calling them earlier, but I decided to call FDU instead.

You're totally right about the secondary app/interview part. Thanks
