So I am currently on two waitlists and as the August MCAT rapidly approaches, I am facing the fact that I probably should retake it to improve my chances for another round of AMCAS if school doesn't work out for Fall 2004. At what point do you throw in the towel on the chance of getting taken off the waitlist and enter MCAT mode? Desperately in need of good advice.....

What was your score, if you don't mind my asking?

Ask your two schools what your chances are.

I would sign up to take the Agust test. If you get off the waitlist it should be before the MCAT. If you don't, then you could take it again and see if your score goes up. If you get off a waitlist (let's hope so) then you could cancel your August registeration for the MCAT.

Do you know for sure that the MCAT score is too low for the schools you applied to? I would call and talk to the dean of admissions at the schools where you are waitlisted and see what they suggest is the best course for you to follow. They are usually quite helpful. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, but I just feel that in order to pull my score up a lot, which I really want to do, I need more than two months of study time. Plus I work full time-it would be sort of hard to study and work and get pull my verbal up at least 3 points. I just keep praying to get off the waitlist and that all of this nonsense is worth it. :luck:
