Just curious if any Temple student on this board has done this and could comment on it? Whether or not it was worth the (I believe) $300 ?

For those who do not know what I am talking about, I was told in my interview there that Temple offers a two week intro to class which is done to help new students acclimate to the work environment at pod school before classes start. I believe you get tested but the tests do not count.

This program is very appealing to me since I will be resuming school after a 3 year hiatus. As is such , my Bio classes I took back in the day are pretty rusty. Trying to make a decision between schools and this seems very appealing to me.

Thanks for responses

From my point of view, any 2 week program is a joke. It won't get you ahead, at all, in any of the courses. It might provide a little refresher, but I'd much rather just enjoy 2 more weeks off and then hit the semester hard when the time comes. One of my friends did the course, and he was no more prepared than anyone else for the REAL coursework.

If you want a refresher/something to get you back in the studying mode, it might be ok. But you'll be surprised how fast your bio knowledge returns after classes start, and the first semester at Temple is relatively laid back till General Anatomy Lab starts.

If it helps your admission then take the course (Temple sometimes offers this to students that are borderline for admissions) if not take the $300 and put it on a nice sunny vacation.

I am already accepted so it would not help my admission. The only reason I was considering this program (should I decide to go to temple... have yet to make a final decision as I am waiting to hear back from a few) is because as I stated in the original post, the last science class I took was in Fall of 2008. Thought this might serve as a refresher.

*bump*

was wondering if anyone can comment on this. i myself have been out of school for four years and will be going to temple in the fall. this course seems appealing to me because of how long i ahve been out of academia
