I just got accepted to TWU as a transfer undergrad student; I'm a sophomore. Most people here apply to the Houston and Dallas campus since they are entry level MOT programs. I'm deciding between UH and TWU to transfer to. UH would be better since I live in Houston but I was thinking maybe I should go to TWU in Denton and do their Pre-OT to MOT program. My question is to anyone who has done this program with them before or anyone who can offer suggestions. I know it is still super competitive even for the students who go through that program, but even if I don't get in I can still apply to other programs so it's worth a try I guess. But with UH I can live at home which would be much cheaper since my family is very low-income making less than 9800/yr (mom's on social security). What do you guys think, do you think I have a better chance to get in with TWU doing this or just graduate from UH and apply to schools?

Hey there!

I'm not a TWU student, but I'm familiar with their fast-track program and I have some friends who have either been accepted or are trying to get into the program. Apparently, there aren't too many qualified students who apply for the program in Denton, so it's MUCH easier to get into than other programs that require you to have a bachelor's degree already. Instead of competing with 300+ people for ~40 spots in the Dallas/Houston programs, they're competing with ~70 or so people for the same number of spots. So you have a pretty decent shot at getting accepted if you're a TWU student applying for the program and you meet the requirements.

***Someone let me know if this isn't the case, though!

TWU Denton, Dallas, or Houston do not have less applicants. I just went to the seminar 2 weeks ago and someone asked how many applications they receive per cohort, and the admissions person said an average of 300 applications.
There are about 40 spots in Dallas. 40 in Houston. 30 in Denton. It is VERY competitive. They are looking for at least a 3.6 even though you can apply with a 3.0

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that as of 2 weeks ago A LOT of things changed in regards to the OT admission process at TWU!
1) No more interviews at any campuses
2) Into to psych is no longer required
3) The early entry MOT program will no longer be available in 2 years. So around 2015.
3) There is now an "early admission" entry. There is a set of requirements, and if you meet all of those, you are in the program. No ifs ands or buts.
4) When early MOT is done, it will be replaced by Assured admission.
5) Early entry and assured admission is ONLY available to current TWU undergraduates
6) There is no assured admission available for Dallas or Houston Campus.
7) And more things lol. Check in on it!!! It barely changed!!!

Well, I was given that information by someone who is involved in the TWU Denton admissions process. I imagine there are several applicants for all three programs, but I took it to mean that there are fewer qualified applicants in the TWU Denton pool. I figured it was because the requirements to enter the fast-track program are stricter and required you to be a TWU student already. Several people don't discover OT until they're well into their undergrad or they've already graduated, so it's easier for them to apply to regular MOT programs. The Dallas and Houston campuses get all the applicants that the Denton campus doesn't, so there are more applicants and more competition.
