This thread is a little outdated - but I found it to be a helpful starting point in researching different programs. I ended up doing a very non-cush IM prelim year mostly due to geographical requirements but learned a ton of medicine and still enjoyed it for the most part.

Yea I'm trying to decide if a really cush place is worth having to live in a random town.

I did my transitional year at Presbyterian St Luke's in Denver. It was the best year of my life, and I highly recommend it.

Presbyterian St. Luke's was my #2 to St Vincent's in Manhattan, due strictly to location. St Vincent's is shuttered now, so if at all possible, interview, write a letter expressing your interest, rank, and then go to Denver. That place was awesome and moving twice is overblown. Go have fun for a year somewhere if not Denver. Last completely carefree year of your life - or at least for a long, long time if you're like most people.

I'm getting vivid flashbacks of so many awesome internship memories just talking about Denver.

Do whatever you can to get in there- I can't express how ridiculously great that year was. 😀
