Has anybody out there applied for the Tylenol scholarship? It seems like one of the few scholarships Pharm.D P1s are eligible for. I wonder if someone in that situation has a realistic shot to get it.

I started the app and got stuck on the essay but I am going to give it a whirl. Can't hurt to try but thanks for telling everyone else about it and ruining our chances!!! LOL

I applied to it the beginning of April. I used bits from my application essays to do it. Haven't heard anything back, yet. we'll see.

Are they only choosing one person to give it to, or are there going to be multiple recipients?

I finished the app a few weeks ago.. but don't really expect much from it. Figure as big a corp. as that is some mid-level or higher person has a son/daughter going to some sort of school and thats where it will go... Not that it's a bad thing ... for whoever gets it. I just don't figure it's going to be much help to me.

I applied...also just used my personal statement..worked out perfectly!

I doubt anything will come from it, but we'll see. To all those that have applied, keep us updated!

never even knew about this one! gonna apply asap!~

i applied a few weeks ago, haven't heard anything and I don't really expect to but i thought, why not? Anyone know of any other scholarships like this?

Isn't the scholarship only for PY2 and above? In the application academic information section, they only have sophomore year and above listed.

I applied freshman and sophomore year. I wasn't even chosen as a finalist.

I wonder, do they even consider pharmacy a health profession? The state of Delaware doesn't in its loan repayment program for health professionals.
Maybe I'll give it a shot again next year.

FYI...

The fine print says that you must attend a non-profit school.

Do we even qualify as prepharm students? I thought the app says that you must be currently enrolled in health profession studies. ???

Yeah. Most schools are non-profit schools, even though they don't seem that way.
For-profit schools include DeVry, Phoenix, Strayer and ones like that.

Well I assumed I qualified since I was in a 0-6 pharmacy program, so I was in a health related field.
Maybe I will apply this year, if there's time left...You guys convinced me to check this thing out, and maybe I have more of a chance now since I'm an actual pharmacy student.

I finished my app long time back...anyone heard anything...i feel this is gonna go to daddy's boy, or uncle's nephew or some kind'o relative thing...anways, got my fingers crossed...would help a lot to pay my bills...

I just submitted mine. I guess we'll have to wait about a month from now, if we get selected?

The key factors are: time vs of # of scholarship vs. # of applicants vs. $ amount of scholarships.

Generally speaking: it is better to start hunting from local / university / college / employer specific scholarships. These tend to have the Least number of applicants per scholarship $, so you get the most bang for your time investment. And if you have time left over, and if you are very qualified, go for the national ones.

Well, I got all the local ones I can get (Delaware doesn't give out too many) and Rite Aid is sure as hell not gonna give me a scholarship and my school says it gives "endowed scholarships" but instead they are basically substitutions to the merit grant promised to everyone in the beginning of freshman year...so really the national ones are now my only hope 🙁

Anyone else got an email form Tylenol today saying that your a semi-finalist?

So soon? I just applied 2 days before the deadline...I guess I'm not a semi-finalist.

To be honest, it's kind of 'fishy.' I submitted by application at 6pm on the DAY OF THE DEADLINE (MAY 15), and I ALREADY heard back? I think it's kind of like applying to pharm school where the only thing they look at first is your GPA. As a semi-finalist, you just send in your transcripts. I think after they verify your GPA, THEN they look at your essay (like for an 'interview'). 😕

I'm a semi-finalist also, we'll see what that actually means soon.

So to semifinalists, what date did you all hear back from the tylenol scholarship committee? and also if you don't mind me asking, what was your gpa range? Thanks a bunch!!🙂
