Type I involves destruction of cells that produce insuline->beta cells (insulin producing)
How to relate this concept with type II diabetes?
I don't think I can assume that type II destroys alpha-cell (glucagon producing bc its not well researched)

Type II diabetes also usually begins with beta cell involvement - in type II, you still produce insulin but the problem is that you don't use it well. We still don't understand very well what exactly causes Type II diabetes, though there are multiple factors that are involved. Take a look at this if you're interested: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11747141

Type I diabetes is insulin dependent - meaning that the disease's presence is dependent on the body's insulin levels
ex. autoimmune disease destroys beta cells, inhibiting insulin production
Type II diabetes is insulin independent - meaning factors other than insulin are more important for the disease
ex. insulin resistance caused by poor diet. meaning you have the insulin but your body can't use it well.
