So the 4 cell junctions are tight, gap, desmosomes, and adherens. For the purpose of the MCAT, what kind of questions might we expect from this knowledge?
From what I understand, they are respectively found in
Tight: skin epithelium, blood-brain barrier capillaries
Gap: cardiac cells (signal transmission)
Desmosomes: ?
Adherens: Muscles?
Edit: Also, a question regarding arterial capillary/venule beds. In the BBB it makes sense that tight junctions are present for highly selective permeability. But with regards to peripheral capillary beds, what kind of junctions would we expect to find here? I know they're fenestrated, but do they classify as gap junctions?
Thanks
