Typical Antibiotic Dose+Duration Post Endo?

If it was a true abscess accessed via the root canal, it should have drained through the tooth. The pain should be gone immediately and, in a healthy patient, antibiotics aren't really necessary. You could prescribe pen VK 500mg x40 1q6h, but if it were my tooth I wouldn't bother taking it. All it'll do is mess up your intestinal flora. The only time I'd really push the antibiotic is if it was a more cellulitic lesion that didn't drain well.
If a pt had a pericapical abscess, we were trained to only give Ab when the patient had some swollen nodes or a fever. Other wise, clean the canal, sodium hypochlorite rinse in the canal then calcium hydroxide. See them back next week to assure no more infection and finish the RCT

That's how we were taught at my school as well.
*If* I was going to give Abx post endo (and that's a big if since in theory before you obturate you've debrided, shaped and disinfected the root canal system), in non pen allergic patients, I'd give Augmentin 875mg tab BID x 5 days, and for pen allergic patients, a Z pack.
Reason why I don't just give Pen Vee K, plain and simple, my local endodontist Rx's Augmentin or a Z pack as he's managing his cases and in theory atleast, my treatment is held to the level of his treatment, AND IMHO more importantly, the Augmentin and Z-pack require both a lower number of days dosing and a lower number of times per day dosing, thus increasing the chances of full patient compliance
