What's a typical EM interview like? And, are there any questions that might throw one for a loop/definitely come up (aside from the why EM? why this program?)?

You should read through the interview feedback threads for the programs where you're interviewing (links at the top of the forum). Some of the reviews describe what the interview day is like. But in general, it's structured a lot like a med school interview. You have breakfast, a presentation about the program, anywhere from about 3-6 interviews with faculty and residents, lunch, and a tour of the hospital. Most programs also have a pre-interview gathering the night before to give you a chance to meet with residents. Most of the questions I got were straightforward about EM and things I had listed on ERAS, what questions I had, etc. Good luck!
