Typical Rate for Essay Editing

I was connected with someone that I don’t know through a mutual friend in order to help their son with his (undergraduate) college admissions essay. How much is appropriate/fair to both parties to charge?

I worked through a private college admissions preparatory company, and while I only tutored the students for ACT/SAT, there was a high school English teacher within the company charging $20 per hour to edit college admission essays. Depending on your credentials, I would say around $20-$30 per hour is a fair price.
