Hi, everyone. I am thinking about going to UPitts, but their school year starts late in August and goes till the end of July? Is that normal?

They have a summer term from early May to late July, is it mandatory or only for people who wants to attend school during the summer (doing what though? I'm confused)....

Also, does anyone know what kind of GPA one has to have upon acceptance for UPitts?

I don't know why I'm even asking (like I already got an offer from them...). And since I'm from Canada, it's gonna take forever for letters to arrive....

Thanks a lot!

IUSD's calendar runs from mid-July to the beginning of June.

In dental school, there are no optional class terms.

While interviewing, some schools mentioned their optional terms. They ranged from research scholarships, mid-term clinic time, and summer "elective" dental classes.

Our freshman year runs Sept 7 (excluding 2 weeks orientation, which began in late August) till mid to late June.

2 days off for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks of in December and I believe a spring break.

I don't know about Pitt but in Texas, San Antonio runs from mid-July to late-May. Houston and Baylor go from late-August to late-May. You get the first summer off with the option of additional work throughout that summer. During that summer you can pick between service, research, patient care, or education/teaching. They really are optional but most students take them anyway in order to strengthen their resume.

All you people with summers off are making me jealous. At least we get a long Christmas break this year.

We get 8 weeks after our first year, 4 weeks after the second, and 3 weeks after the third.

Then we're done ...
