i maybe overconcerned..

but i've realized i have two typos on my CAS application which was finalized. (funny how i did not pick this up when i proofread it three times before finalizing it.. now it seems like a obvious typo)

Anyways, anyone have experience with this? I'm afraid programs might hold this against me..

I don't have experience with that, but I have a related problem. About 30 minutes after submitting my CAS, I realized that when it asks for the date you're available to start training I put July 2011 when it should be 2012 because I forgot to account for transitional/prelim year.

Do I need to e-mail all my programs & tell them it's a typo (will they think I already did a transitional year)? If I do, should I wait until SF Match says it distributed my application or should the correction be in program coordinators' inboxes before my app arrives?

How bad are the typos? Didn't misspell ophthalmology, did you? 😀

Seriously, may not make a difference. The screeners (e.g., faculty responsible for looking over applicants to select interview candidates) are under a serious time crunch. They each have hundreds of applications to evaluate. They will most likely look at your numbers & pedigree, then skim the rest. Unless it's a blatant error, it's unlikely to be picked up. Contacting programs about it will only draw more attention. Can't imagine that would be helpful.

Doubt this is a problem. Unlikely they'll even notice. After all, you're applying for a 2012 position by entering the match. If you needed a 2011 position, you would have to find one outside the match. You also would have listed your internship on the application.

If you don't get an interview, its is 100% guaranteed because of the typos and not because of everything else in your 3+ years of medical school.
