??? Typo??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't think that they will end up being tragic, but I don't think you should tell her (if the app is already submitted). Not a whole lot can be done at this point.

Not much point to go over it after it has been submitted. I wouldn't point out the typos on the supplemental. They are probably small typos that the readers might miss themselves.

typos matter much less than neurotic med students think
unless is glaring mistakes such as spelling it medcine, or saying allopathic instead of osteopathic

So I was just going over my friends accomas app for her and I found 3 typos. SHE WOULD BE CRUSHED! Should I tell her? Is there anything she can do to compensate for these possibly tragic mistakes? Should she say something about them when she gets her supplementals?? I think I will tell her...should I tell her?

The first time I submitted my AACOMAS, I accidentally left the entire coursework section blank. I sent them an email about it, and they let me re-open and fix it. Incidentally, as I was browsing through my EC's, I found 2 more typos that I fixed at the same time. It wasn't too big of a deal and set me another week behind (since I had to re-submit it), but I'm glad I did.

I served on the interview team at DMU and helped interview close to 30 students in my time here thus far. For each student I spent, on average, 10 minutes reading his or her file. In ten minutes you will not discover minor typos. In fact, if I discovered major typos (i.e., misspelling your own name) I would just laugh and move on. Anything else I would ask the applicant when they arrived. No one combs through the files looking for spelling mistakes or minor errors in grammar. I am sure your friend will be fine.

Tell your 'friend' 3 mistakes is not tragic by any means ... ANY means. No big deal ... make sure your 'friend' doesn't worry. Also, if you are telling the truth and you did read this for someone else, just don't tell them. If there isn't anything they can do about it ... why tell them. But I still don't think this friend exists. :meanie:

Ok sounds great! I will not let her know! After I posted last night I read over my own one more time, and actually found one of my own (small but a type) OH WELL! Thanks for all the great advice!

Don't tell them. In my AMCAS I discovered multiple errors in my personal statement. (Dunno how this happened because I proofread it multiple times. I suppose when your reading it for the 38202th time you gloss over things.)

Anyways point is that I had errors in it, and yet I was complemented on it in ALL of my allopathic interviews. So its probably not a big deal, no use in stressing over it at this point.

Both my AMCAS and AACOMAS has typos in it.

Oh well, such is life! So long as you aren't putting stuff like "that's why I want to attend Touro" in your CCOM essays, it's generally ok. Water over the dam, that's my philosophy. No use in stressing about it. A lot of typos will completely unnoticed, anyways. Lkie teh iaed thta yuo cna raed ayn sntenece os lngo as lal teh lttrse aer tehre, right?
