anybody who had one for the 6-7 yr program and can help me? Also, can anyone tell me about the facilities/student life and stuff? I'm a little concerned about it being a state school and all...

Thanks much!

I interviewed at NEOUCOM my senior year in HS, back in 1999. I was accepted but i chose not to attend (mostly becuase i didnt want to be so close to home and wasnt completely sure i wanted to go to med school in the first place), but now im kicking myself in the ass for not at least having given it a bit more thought. The interview, for me, seemed quite difficult, but that was just becuase i totally wasnt prepared. They conduct the interview similar to any normal med school interview. I remember they asked in the app about your position on some relevant health care issue, so be prepared to talk a lot about that... also reasons for applying, wanting to be a doctor, commitment to service, etc. my best advice, is to review ur app and ur essays, look through their website, and keep current on that health care issue u wrote about. other than that just be comfortable and im sure u will do fine.

and that's another thing... the application didn't require and explicitly stated that they didn't want essays or LOR... so I'm kind of edgy of whether or not I'd want to go...

anybody else have some thoughts? thanks!

I can't tell you much about the BS/MD program, but I recently got in as a regular "direct entry" applicant so I may be able to answer a few other questions.

The facilities are very nice. Nicer, in fact, than most of the other programs (sate and private) that I've interviewed at. The anatomy labs in particular are the best I've seen. The location is a bit rural for my tastes, and you have to rotate to one of the three clinical campuses for your clinicals ~ there is no hospital on site. That doesn't bother me too much, but I know some people see it as a negative.

Don't know much about student life, but everyone I've talked to seemed happy. The general youth of the students was apparent to me (I'm 27) but I don't imagine that would bother you. 🙂

One thing that has stood out so far is the organization of the place. I mean these people are HYPER organized. If all 4 years flow as well from an admin standpoint as the application process has, there will be few headaches.

NEOUCOM is a good school. They seem to produce well trained docs who get good residency matches all over the place. I'll probably go there, and fully expect to be happy...

Hope that helps.

i interviewed there and was accepted last year but I didnt go because i didn't like the campus or the school. I went to go see the medical school and i thought to my self, you've gotta be kidding me! I just thought everything was bland and not that competitive so if you can get an interview u probably have other better option so don't sweat it.
