U.F. Jacksonville Interview
Started by Alkylholic
I haven't heard anything from UF (any campus) yet. I received an email confirmation that my application was complete, back in late September/early October...and nothing since then.
I'm out of state, but I'm hoping to at least get an interview.

3.57 Math/Science GPA 3.67 Pre-req GPA (Not really sure which one they look at)
72% composite <--the one thing I'm worried about
3 Years of pharmacy experience
8 years in the military
2 pretty good LORs and a pretty good personal statement
Florida resident
I just hope they look over the PCAT score and consider everything else, UF is actually the only school I applied to. 🙁
I haven't even gotten an email saying my package was complete, and I actually emailed them twice asking about it. I don't know whats going on there. Pharmcas mailed out the first one on 12/14, and the revised one with the Fall grades on 2/13.

I think you should relax cos inviting you for interview means they received all your materials from Pharmcas, beside UF only invites about 350 candidates and accepts roughly 300, so an interview means you have been screened and gives you a far greater chance of getting in. I think they want to get a feel of who you are and learn about your communication skills, you have to realy blow the interview to be denied. You seem well rounded with a decent GPA and you PCAT is not that bad. If you graduated from a University with that GPA, I think its a plus for you . Good luck!!

No, sorry if you misunderstood but I HAVEN"T received an invitation. I just wanted to figure out if they have started sending them out yet. Hopefully it will be soon. This whole waiting game sucks!
Our stats are almost exaclty the same:
3.7 G.P.A.
3.6 Math/ Science
72% PCAT
2 years Pharmacy expereince (CPhT)
Many extracuriculars and began chapter of National Honor Society at University
I applied to St. Pete Campus, and my application with PCAT scores was sent by PharmCas 2/26.
I have not heard anything yet.
I am hoping for the April interview!🙂
Good Luck Alky!

LOL yeah they are pretty much the same. What happened to you on the PCAT? I didn't have any Organic Chemistry or Biology II, and Bio I was taken like 5 years ago. I still managed to score decent on those parts but I somehow jacked up the Math section and got 44%! Thats what killed me. I really wish I would have taken it again in Jan. Oh well.....Good luck to you too! 👍
Has anyone received an invitation for the April 25th interview in Jacksonville? Every day that passes just makes me worry more and more....
If so please post your stats. Thanks.
Alkyholic, your are the first I've seen to apply to the Jax campus. Do you live in Jax. I live here and applied but haven't heard anything yet. Either way, good luck!!!
I was stationed there my first 4 years in the Navy and loved it. I bought a house while I was there so when i'm done with my tour here in New Orleans this May I'll be getting out and moving back to Jax, whether I get accepted or not. What part of town do you live in? My house is off of 103rd st, I actually worked in the Wal-Mart pharmacy over there part time for a while.

I live off Hodges and JTB. I did my undergrad at UNF and been here ever since. This town has definately grown on me and would hate to leave. Unfortunately, from what it looks like I'll be leaving for a few years. Were you stationed at NAS or Mayport? I used to go to Mayport and surf at the Poles all the time. Now that my sticker has expired I spend alot of time at Hanna Park. I'm actually going to N.O. this May for the Jazz Fest. Well, more for Harrah's then the Jazz fest. Either way, it will be a good time.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us! Good luck!!

I just got an email today inviting me to the Jacksonville interview April 25th. It gave me a phone # to call and schedule an exact time. I submitted my stuff right before the deadline and I live in California.
My stats:
UC undergrad
sGPA: 3.61
cGPA: 3.64
PCAT: 99
3.5 years as a chemist
6 months volunteer in-patient pharmacy
Good luck everyone!
I was stationed at NAS. I know what you mean, I was really lucky to get Jax as my first duty station. I love being like 30 mins from the beach, I've really missed that. Here its more like 30 mins to the swamp. I went to Jazz Fest a couple of years ago, it was a really good time. That it is until the cab ride home when the driver pulled out right in front of someone and we got T-boned, but thats another story lol! I'll actually be leaving here the end of next month to finish up a couple of classes at FCCJ. Good luck you too, hopefully we'll see each other on the 25th!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm going crazy!!

Oh U.F., why are you doing this to me??!?!?
Anyone else hear anything yet?

Alky- I feel ya! I am in the exact same spot! Nothing yet!
Lol! Those are my emotions too! I have an interview at LECOM tomorrow, so I am pretty excited about that!
It would be nice to know if I had any other choice though, because right now that is the only interview I have!
Hopefully, we will hear GOOD thing this week!🙂
Good Luck!

I turned down my UF Jacksonville interview. I'm from CA and would like to stay in-state. I didn't hear back from my CA schools until after I submitted my UF app. So there's one more spot open! Good luck!
Ditto for me. I'm going to cancel my interview. I just got accepted to UCSF. Good luck all!

The closer you are to the low cutoff, which they won't know until they have every app reviewed, the closer to the interview date you'll get an invite or a rejec. letter.
The averages to get in last year were 3.6 prerequisite avg (not counting speech) and around 86 composite. If you are above one and below the other you are on the edge. If you are below both averages then you need some luck. If you are above both averages, you probably had your interview already. That's how the system works.

Well I just received an email saying that my application is complete and that right now they are reviewing the following:
"Florida Residents with the following: 3.4-4.0 science gpa and 80-99 PCAT. Non-Florida Residents with the following: 3.6-4.0 science gpa and 90-99 PCAT."
And they will finish the process by the end of May. Sooo looks like I have a while to wait still. Damn I wish I would have retaken the PCAT now! 😡

I guess that means that nayone outside the margin is not looking so good. Those are really high stats, but look at the school.
At least you got some information from them today!🙂
Good Luck!
