I've been complete since 8/1 and just received my interview invite (via email) this past week. I'm IS as well.

In state, complete 10/20. havent heard anything yet, but apparently, they are pretty slow and still interview through April.

E-mail, and as I said i JUST got my invite right before they closed down for a winter break. I also heard an inside scoop that things are going especially slow this year. I think if you haven't heard a no, you should be very hopeful for good news in the near future.

The last thing I heard from them before last Thursday was a letter stating that my app was still under review. Not sure if that qualifies as a HOLD.

I emailed Wendy Loughlin (the UMCP pre-med advisor) and she sent me the following information.

I spoke with UMD this morning.... I spoke with the Director, who said he is still filling interview slots and anticipates continuing to interview through the end of March.

So thats the word!

I haven't gotten an email or a letter from Maryland... Not a peep. In fact, most of the schools I applied to have not said anything to me yet. I was complete 10/20.. this sucks...

I was complete late September and received an invitation from Maryland last week (first communication). Hopefully you will hear something in the next couple weeks.

I interviewd in November, was supposed to hear back early December, called them before Christmas, and they said they just got my interview stuff back, and I'd go to committee early January, so I guess I'm supposed to hear back from them soon. I hope...

Yeah, I'm an NY resident as well... Also got an e-mail placing me on hold today. Eh, was an outside shot anyway given that I'm OOS, so I'm basically chalking this one up to a rejection (unless someone has good news about movement from "Hold" status)

Call them, it took them til late December for themt o get my interview notes turned in, thats what they told mewhen I claled them in late December. So it may take awhile.

Im OOS and I was complete 10/29ish... I wasnt great with keeping track, but i know it was late October/ early November when I was complete. Keep hanging in there and good luck

Not me. In state, complete 10/20.

They do interview through the end of march and send out invitation interviews through Feb, but my professor at Univ of MD College Park advised me to send a letter of interest/update now. If they get it before March 1, they will add it to your file and likely re-review your file. GL!!!

Does anyone feel like they are being ignored completely by Maryland because they've either worked at Hopkins or have connections there. I feel like my stats are above the acceptable range for instate consideration at Maryland but I just happened to spend a few summers in a Hopkins lab and that is screwing me.

I have no relation to Hopkins and they are also screwing me. They accepted people last year with stats "better" than mine and "worse" than mine. I am a competative applicant, and I've heard nothing from them. My professor was surprised, he thought I would def get into MD since it is my state school. I'm going to send a letter of update and hope for the best.

I'm not quite sure about the Hopkins link. I've been working there for the past 2-3 years, and I did get an interview last year (this is my second time applying). I did get the feeling that Maryland does sort of have an inferiority complex when it comes to Hopkins. I could be wrong though.

Maybe Maryland is taking a REALLY LOOOOONG time to get to all of the applications?

haha no by "they are ignoring me" i meant U Maryland, I was just saying I didnt have any Hopkins connections and was still getting ignored by MD... sorry, my pronoun use was confusing.

haha oops... yeah i am being ignored by maryland too and i don't really understand it. oh well. i could send them a letter of interest but i'm not willing to send them any kind of letter of intent to get an interview. it seems silly that i would have to do that for my state school anyways! who isn't interested in in-state tuition?
