I've been hearing a few conflicting things about Michigan's program and hope some folks with more knowledge might help. From reading the postings here I was under the impression that Mich was a great program, perhaps one of its biggest drawbacks being its Midwestern location. However I've heard from some older attendings that they felt it was a fairly surgically-dominated, malignant program, and not very well regarded. Any thoughts or personal experiences?

michigan is an excellent program....very nice faculty and happy residents
i interviewed there and was very impressed

I was also impressed when interviewing there. All of the residents were happy. The attendings seemed nice. The Dept. Chair is very well known. The call schedule seemed great and the facilities were nothing short of fantastic. They also get so many interesting cases, or so I would imagine 'cuz I'm doing my internship now at another Michigan hospital and we send stuff there all the time.
