I have these interviews scheduled back to back and will have to cancel one. Which one would you cancel and why? Arkansas has 14 categorical spots vs VCU's 8 but after doing a search on this forum it seems like VCU might be the better choice. Any thoughts, especially from current residents or students rotating there, would be appreciated. Thanks!

Interviewed at VCU, I really liked it, and ranked it high. This was 5 years ago so forgive me if I don't recall details.

I would say the impression I have from word of mouth over the years is VCU > UofArk but I can't back this up with concrete statements.

I liked VCU alot when I interviewed and ranked it highly as well, right behind my current program i think... idk it was four years ago 🙂 these are VERY different programs imho. do you have a regional preference for one vs the other? a lot of jobs hire LOCAL! think about this hard. if not then i say VCU for sure. arkansas is kind of a work horse program and vcu is way more cush. as far as reputation i think vcu is better. go for which location you think you want to end up at and if they are equal for you pick vcu.

John Butterworth recently became chair at VCU after many years at IU. I suspect he primarily made the move because he is from Richmond. He is great and imagine the program will become even better with him at the helm.
