This is just to warn anyone who will be interviewing at UF from out of state. I thought the program was good so I don't want to offend anyone who is going there.

In my own opinion as an out of state applicant from CA, this was such a waste of my time and money!!! I realize that it is very difficult to get the interview if you are not a resident of Florida so whether I get in or not isn't the issue.

My issue with my interview is as follows: One of the interviewers was telling me how the PAT doesn't measure anything really and how it is very difficult to take on the computer...my PAT was my lowest score on the DAT....and that they don't even look at it. The next breath that came out of Dr. Sposetti's mouth was that it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that I RETAKE the DAT because of it!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me. These people had my scores 3 MONTHS BEFORE they even granted me the interview.

HEEELLLLOOO! I am very upset and would not attend even if accepted because they should not waste any student's time/money if their scores/grades/whatever do not meet their satisfaction. To me this was such a slap in the face that they wasted my time to tell me this AT the interview instead of telling me before so I could have opted to cancel the interview based on my retaking the DATs for the PAT section (even though Dr. Sposetti went on for a good 5-10 minutes about how worthless it is).

Again this is only my view and I just want to let any other interviewees know that they should call before they interview here to make sure that this does not happen to them.

I'm sorry that you had to experience that. However, remember some schools just might say that to see what you would say and how serious you are. UF knows that most people from out of state have some other schools lined up so they want to know how serious you are about their program so they don't give up a seat on a person who really isn't interested.

UF is a great program because Damian and voozhead, my buddies are going there. That makes it worth going there.

Sorry to hear that Shane ! Frankly, I believe UF interrogates most out-of-staters strictly because they want to attract hard-nosed, persistent students. Also, UF is a state school and all Florida students will be given priority over students from elsewhere. I know of ONE out-of-state student that's been accepted thus far - I believe he attended Notre Dame. UF is only able to admit 80 students, and roughly 85% of those accepted usually take the spot in the class. With that said, any out-of-state student probably needs a stellar resume to even get interviewed !! Dr.Sposetti told most of us @ the interview that there are well over 80 qualified candidates, so the interview process becomes very critical on their decision of one's application.

Again, sorry to hear that Shane, I'll try to shed some light on your situation next time I speak with the admissions committee in order to prevent it from happenning again !

At my interview, dr. sposetti asked about my DaT score and she was like "tell me about your PAT score." I thought that was a weird question. When I asked her "should i take it again?" and she was like "well...your scores are average score " and told me that it's up to me. She basically sounded like I had to take it again.. 🙁 I thought I wouldn't get in, but I got in. And my friend's DAT score was like mine too but got in w/o any problem. I think they just wanted to make you think that EveryONE they accept have like over 21 dat score. But they are nice people.. heh

I got an interview for UF in October.
What do you think my chances are for getting in UF?
I am a florida resident and my scores are:

AA 19
bio 20
gen chem 17
o chem 23
RC 15
QR 18
PAT 17

I will not be having my B.S. degree before I can get in(hopefully) 🙄

they are going to rape you at the interview with that 15 and possibly the 17's

They are so stuck up over there.

If you have atleast a 3.8 and no degree, you have a good shot with those #'s

If you have a 3.4 or higher and the BS, then with those scores you have a good shot

You will have a shot with their "required" classes. Those include...

* General Biology
* Microbiology
* Molecular Biology/Genetics
* General, inorganic chemistry
* Organic Chemistry
* Biochemistry
* Physics
* English Grammar and Composition
* General Psychology

Of course most applicants will have the general bio, chem, and ochem, but most don't have genetics, microbio, psychology, and biochem. They are very strict about these requirements, so i suggest having them. Also be ready to explain that 15 and 17.

Thanx guys,

wish me luck, I am going to the interview this tuesday!
