Did anybody get a call from Janelle regarding an interview for an alternate list spot?

I got a call from her two weeks ago. I then got the paperwork in the mail regarding the interview. But....

Is it worth going to this interview?

How many applicants from the alternate list get selected every year?

I didn't know that they were sending those out now. I am still on re-review for February. I guess that's a definite "no" for me.

All I got was a call from Janelle, on the girls in the admissions office, two weeks ago. She said it's an interview, but only for the alternate list.

So I'm wondering if it's worth spending money buying plane ticket and hotel fee just for an alternate spot interview.

I definitely want to attend UOP's dental school.

But in your case quack, don't loose hope. I'm pretty sure the UOP adcoms will call you for an interview in January.

I guess it depends if you have gotten into another dental school. If you already got into somewhere you really consider going to, then there's no point. But I have to admit, UOP is pretty good to its waitlist. A friend of mine was waitlisted last year and got an automatic acceptance for the class of 2011. She was told of her acceptance before December 1st.

If you really want to go to Pacific, you should probably consider calling them and finding out the chances of a similar event happening... or better yet, the chances of getting off the waitlist and getting in.

Goodluck, Kahuna! Hope you get in. 🙂

I've been accepted to two dental school, one of them which I definitely don't want to attend.

Since I come from a WICHE state, and UOP is one of the WICHE dental schoos, I would rather go to UOP than another dental school that is far away from home.

Thanks for the luck. I wish you luck too for UOP and other schools you want to go to!!

Wow Kahuna, are you really from Koho'olawe?

^^ LOL!!! You've gotta be kidding me!! 😀

I just made up Kahoolawe as my isle just to be comical. 😉
Imagine having a monopoly as a dentist on an island!!! Woot!!

Seeing that you're from "Hawaii" which island do you live on? I'm guessing Oahu?

I thought you were serious being from Kahoolawe. Are you really from the islands? My family lives on Molokai.

Hey, with all this talk about getting calls for an interview, I'm beginning to be worried. What if you don't pick up the call? Will they leave a message or will you be screwed? I've had a lot of missed calls lately, although the area codes don't seem to match those of the schools'. Anyone know 'bout this?

I was told that they've offered acceptances to about 90 applicants so far. There is room for 143, so they're going to still be sending out a good number of acceptances out. They expect around 70% of accepted applicants to actually decide on attending. The waitlist is supposed to be about 50-60 applicants long. I know someone in my class that was somewhere near the middle of the waitlist when they found out, but he didn't know until the 3rd day after classes started. However, there is another classmate that was #3 on the waitlist the year before but didn't get in, and had to wait out a year.

^^ I do live in Hawaii. BUT....I was being sarcastic about living on Kahoolawe. It's an isolated island that was used by the US Navy as a bombing range. Now it's deserted with only wildlife refuge birds, etc.

However, it would be great to be the only dentist on an island and have a monopoloy!! 😀

thanks sherm for the advice. Although it's for a waitlist spot, I am still going to the UOP interview. I'm excited!!!
