U Penn First Tier Waitlist...chances??

Hey All,

To anyone out there with some info., I'm dying for my buddy to make into med school, and he's on the first tier at Penn. Does anyone know if they usually take everyone off the first tier? Is there anything he can do to increase his chances?

The waitlist is pretty active, especially (almost only) First Tier. Something like 20-25% of the class typically gets in off the waitlist, so your friend has a good chance but won't hear anything for at least a month until the May one school deadline.
If it is really your buddy's first choice, he might want to write a letter saying something to that effect and that if he was let in, he would definitely attend. Also, just an update letter (if there is anything to update about his app) is a good idea.
