Today when I checked my status page it said that correspondence was sent 10/5/2006 at 11:51am. I have not received an e-mail from them so does that mean they're sending something via snail mail. Is this a rejection? Everyone that has gotten interview invites has gotten them through e-mail so I'm thinking this means rejection. Has anyone else noticed a message like this?😕

Yeah, a bunch of us got that notice. It is either a rejection or a hold. I am thinking a rejection. Sorry. 🙁

got the same thing on my page. I was complete 8-15ish

Damnit I got the same thing too. This is the first rejection that truly stings; I honestly thought I had a chance, and I wanted to go there.
 
So i got it too...

I just called Pitt and asked the woman who answered if this meant it was a rejection. She said that it meant they had mailed something out but that she wasn't sure if they would be interview invites, rejections, or holds (if they do that...).

HOWEVER, i bet these are rejections or holds because my status page won't let me schedule an interview.

Let's be honest, no one wants to live in Pittsburgh anyway. no one.

Whatever helps you cope with a rejection. Pittsburgh is a cool city though. The abandoned steel mines and the renovated buildings. Churches being turned into bars complete with a microbrewery on the altar. Old paper factories serving as condominiums now. Seems pretty rad.
 
The people in Pittsburgh laregely look like mutants. If you're single, this is essentially Hell with pierogies.

yeah, it's a good school and if i didn't want to go there, i wouldnt have applied.

but i can't agree about pittsburgh being rad. floridakppr, can i ask how you coped when you ended up at USF? you know... i'm just trying to find a way to deal with this rejection!

How I coped at USF? Ha. You'll rue the day you said that. Seriously, I like it here. Ample research opportunities for undergrads, interesting classes, and the gamut of local bars. I have been pleasantly surprised by USF. I chose to go here intially because it was the 4-year University closest to my parents' house/hometown. Am definitely ready to attend med school away from here, if need be.

Man...that's totally strange. Our stats are pretty close. I was shocked to get an interview so quickly; it looks like we're both OOS. I'm not bragging at all...in fact, I'm wondering if it will even be worth going all the way up there. I mean, if they're rejecting MCAT32's right off the bat, how much of a chance can I have with a 33? I feel like I slipped through the crack and now I'm just wasting my time hoping for the best >(.

Please tell me you're joking. You have an interview which is more than probably a majority of their applicants can say (I don't have an MSAR handy, but that seems to be the usual trend). Obviously, someone thought you were worthy of it so you should too!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but "You have an interview which is more than probably a majority of their applicants can say " is EXACTLY why I feel I must have slipped through the cracks >). I know my stats are "solid," but is there really that big of a difference between me and someone with a 32 and a ton more EC's? I also realize there is far more to the admissions process then MCAT score, but it's an easy comparison. Anyway, I guess I'll find out in about 29 days. ::fingers crossed::
 
Does anyone have the MSAR for the stats on OOS'ers on # interviewed from # applied and # accepted from #interviewed? Hey, maybe they're sending you a viewbook and then they'll send you an invite for an interview. Thats what happened to me at least. I got the interview invite the same day i received the viewbook in the mail.
 
not me either. what takes so long for mail to travel 2 states?

I was wondering where exactly you read this information.........I mean which tab was it under? I interviwed at Pitt and absolutly loved the school and it is my top choice..........so I want to prepare myself if I'm rejected. Thanks!
 
I think those getting this message have not been invited for an interview. With regard to your question, It is under the regular check status page with secondary recieved, fee paid, etc...
 
Nothing yet. My mail does not arrive for another 3 hours. Anyone get anything yet??? Damn slow correspondence. Lets get this over with.
 
... this is almost as bad as waiting 2 months for mcat scores..

except this has a muuuuch more direct impact on whether i go to med schol or not.. :scared:

... im running out of fingernails to chew.

I didn't get anything from Pitt either. Why can't they just tell us we were rejected on the website? 🙂
 
I was ambivalent about Pitt before I got their viewbook. Looking through it made me like them. But if it's a rejection, Pitt, you can go and suck it. 😡
 
Of course, the interview scheduling page does still say "You have not YET been invited to interview". Perhaps this may give hope to a hold then instead of a rejection? Or (hee hee) how about a pre-interview acceptance! 😀

LoL yeh, its always said that. But at least it still saying that and hasn't completely closed off like VCU's site. Once VCU rejects you ... *poof* .... everything disappears except their rejection statement. Our file at Pitt still seems to be active. So ya never know ....

No, they send you a lpretty little viewbook (Think those several page glossy magazines you got when applying to college) via snail mail. I don't think it signifies anything at all other than that you're on their mailing list.

so...back to the question of the moment: has anyone gotten an actual letter in the mail? :scared:
 
why doesnt someone call them tomorrow and ask about the letter?
 
someone called last week and they just said correspondance had been sent via snail mail but they couldn't say what it was
