Are you talking about University of Alabama at Birmingham or University of Buffalo? I am not aware of any financial form from UAB.

I think we all international students need to write letters to American Dental Association and Immigration services about the way these dental schools are expecting money from we students. What do they think if we had thousands of dollars in our bank account we would have came to US for studies 😕 ???? Every school just wants to make money 😱...... Why international students are always financially discriminated even though they are more hard working and intellectual ???? No scholarships or loans provided to international applicants even after getting high GPAs ???? The dental school fees are sky rocketing .....they dont take into consideration the amount of inflation this economy is going through !!!!!:scared:

We all should THINK about this before we pay this hefty fees !!! It seems dental schools are made just for rich candidates ......

I was expecting more people to answer this thread and this issue ... It seems like everybody's bank balance is enough to pay this schools ..... Guys v r intelligent group of people and also hard working .... let's resolve this issue before International Dentist starts getting admissions in dental schools with their kids 😕 ..... Schools had to justify the reason .... there has to be reasons behind setting so many requirements .... the more we bear ...the more schools will take advantage of us 😱....

LET'S HAVE OUR VOICE REACHED TO PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA ....!!!! 👍

Hi all,

yeah right, seems like these schools are just ripping us off...🙁
god help us all!!!!!

Hi I got this email from UB stating:

We recognize that some international applicants may have difficulty obtaining official financial documentation by the application deadline, and therefore we are eliminating that requirement as part of the application process.

Only IDP candidates invited to interview will be required to submit the UB Financial Form and supporting official financial documentation. These documents must be submitted no later than the interview and bench test, which will occur on November 22 and 23, 2010. Candidates may send these documents to us in advance, or may hand carry them to the interview to submit in person.

Its good for now,
but they have not decreased their bench fee its same🙁
$1,500
somebody tell them its really bad.......

I do not understand that even if you are given time to get the supporting financial documents to be produced at the time of the interview, how on earth do you guys plan to get those from? No bank is going to give you a pre-approval letter this early. Why is the school not thinking about this and removing this requirement altogether for acceptance into the program? Are they so stupid? Or just dont care about students?

Looks like you are right but what needs to be done?

Well answer to your Question is that " NO SCHOOL IN USA CARES FOR STUDENTS ..... BCOS THEY KNOW IRRESPECTIVE OF REQUIREMENTS THEIR SEATS ARE GONNA FULL AND EVERY YEAR THEY WILL GET THE "HEFTY" FEES 😱 FROM SOME OR THE OTHER STUDENTS"

Can some representative from ADA explain us why is school having requirments like US Citizenship or PR or GC ...... logically those program should not then be considered for "International Dentist" ...... 😕

V all need to complain ADA about $1500 and $2500 interview/bench test fees for University of Buffalo and Nova Southeastern respectively. This is just insane 😡 and its the best way for schools to make revenue to offset the balance they cannot make it from patients.

See the residency program for Physicians ..... they are so well planned .... International Physicians they dont pay any tuitions .....INFACT RESIDENCY PROGRAM PAY THEM DECENT STIPEND PLUS THEY DONT CHARGE FOR INTERVIEWS 😀....AND ON TOP OF IT THEY MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR CANDIDATES ACCOMODATION AND FOOD DURING INTERVIEWS !!!!!👍

WHY IS THAT DENTISTRY NOT SO ADVANCED OR IS IT THAT ONLY RICH CANDIDATES CAN BE DENTIST ????

You are right, Buffalo dental school was not so expensice before but now fees look like that they are in deep recession period. Also, they are asking lots of thing for bench test.
No school care for international students. Dental schools are milking money from us.

this is true.. the buffalo is milking us where as home we milk the buffallo.. this is heights of karma....

ADA has no role whatsoever in the admission criteria or fee structure set by the schools. At the most, we can call them and ask them whom to contact for this problem. And what makes you think that ADA cares for us? If it does, it would not have let the tedious and money milking CAAPID process start. I see no logic behind paying CAAPID just to compile my information and recos and send it to individual schools. I can competently do that myself. These are major flaws in the system and I think if anything is to be happen, has to happen at the legislative level. ADA is simply going to say "we cannot do anything".

I have received a mail from TOEFL stating that my sore report delivered to UB. I have the electronic epay payment receipt.they now need these again along with financial documents inspite of yesterday's email that only invitees have to submit the financial documents And today i get a mail from UB stating that:

I MAILED THIS TO UNIV OF BUFFALO TODAY
hi
please check the TOEFL institution code you have provided in this link http://www.sdm.buffalo.edu/programs/dds/IDentist.html i.e 2925 does not correspond to the following address:
Ms. Kristin Yager
Student Admissions / Attn: IDP Program
School of Dental Medicine
315 Squire Hall
University at Buffalo
Buffalo New York 14214

Instead code 2925 corresponds to
SUNY UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO
BUFFALO NY 14260-1660

the code 2892 corresponds to SUNY HEALTH SCI CTR BUFFALO

BUFFALO NY 14214 please see the zip code differs in the code provided by you. that's why TOEFL reports of candidates are not reaching you including me. Although, now i have ordered a new report to be sent to new code. Please make the required correction in your information. It gives a lot of botheration and costs extra to candidates applying to your university.

Thank you for your message. In fact, the University at Buffalo has two campuses, and the information on our website does send the TOEFL to the correct address. We are working with International Admissions on our campus to ensure that TOEFL scores for IDP applicants were not routed to their office on the other campus. If we receive your official score, you will receive notification from our office.

What in the world this UB thinks about themselves ?? When they cannot manage a small admission process ....guys do u think they can manage their IDP program .... Reckless people 😡 are working in admissions office with no attitude of making things comfortable for students ....

Did u all read the bencj test guidelines and fees they are charging .... How come they expect us to know everything in bench exam of 7 hours ?? If we should know everything then what the hack are they going to teach us during the program 😕 ??? Are v paying $240000 tuition for 2 years so that most of their employees can drive luxurious cars:idea: ???? !!!!!! ///////

This is so ridiculous 😳.... We in ourselves are degrading the dental profession .... Unprecendented increase 😱 in the cost have made our patients to lose trust in us ........

V need to control this vicious cycle !!!! 👍

LOL.. once again im gunna laugh at you.. ur hilarious.. i think your joking.. you wonder why they expect you to know how to do all the bench tests? maybe its because your suppose to be a "foreign trained dentist" not someone who knows nothing... your suppose to know all this already not be sitting at home training to do a class 2 that u still dont know how to do properly. if u wanna learn so much why dont u start from the beginning and do all 4 years. this is an "advanced standing" program.. for trained dentists. think before you talk all this nonsense.. i think u wanna get into politics not dentistry.. cause any dentist would just pay their 200k loan and be happy making 200k a year atleast for the rest of their lives.. and i doubt u have the courage to say this to any university urself.. only on sdn where your anonymous. your a real hero.. ill probably still see you here posting and crying in a couple years when im done.. see you then.. my condolences

Thanks Canine149 for backing my butt.... It seems KutinderBDS is one of those rich candidates with PR or GC who doesnt care enough or may be think he/she is one of the most smartest person in this world ..... He/she is critising so nicely without even thinking second side of the coin .... Unfortunately, such kind of people havent seen both sides of the world .... I wish KutinderBDS get into dental school and start earning his/her dream pay of 200K which he/she will know when he/she gets into the real practise "how tough is to earn that amount particularly in this mamoth of health insurances?" KutinderBDS may b u wil get graduate much before me nd may b I will understand the system much better even though I might get graduate a year later than u .... nd then I wil c u in politics if I ever got into it .... My dear frnd think long term and take into consider all factors before being a good critic !!!

I love these dental schools and I m glad that they r providing us good opportunity to get educate here but at the same time they should help us financially in the form of making educational loan for international dentist accessible ...... people like KutinderBDS have no idea of how candidates are facing financial strain throughout this process .... its not frustration ...its logic .... I m nt saying to b linient on selection process .... bt give FTDs some amount of flexibility so tht they accomodate themselves well into system rather than b pressurized ....

And FYI Advanced Standing are program r meant to actually train FTDs clinically and not basics sciences .... so technically preparation becomes part of clinical sciences which falls under advanced standing program ... for which they are charging these hefty fees .... They cannot expect us to prep 10 crown or cavity preps ....nd I would say if they do then let us give permission to take Board exams directly ....trust me most of the FTDs will do good in direct board exams .... bcos everybody will practice like hell to get through that process .... bt nw adays the schools are expecting everything frm candidates ..... !!!!

wow! dont get so aggravated. this is a long journey, everyone gets frustrated now and then, parking is just passing through a phase like everyone else is. some have patience, some dont, but you saying this to someone that "you will probably see them posting and crying while you are done" that's inhuman, rude and shows what a high headed person u r.
Come back to the earth, you never know what might happen.

Hey Guys,

Please find the following email which I sent to Dr. David Brown at UAB. I hope you guys are feeling same...so copy this email and send it to Dean and Director of the program...I believe that they will react on what we want to convey....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Tell your Name, work position title, and your credibility to sound as potential dentist"

I was excited to know that the University at Buffalo was starting an International Dentist Program for non-immigrants foreign trained graduates. Without any second thought, I completed the application and paid fees to CAPPID and the School as soon as the admission cycle opened with a dream to pursue a dental degree at the UB School of Dental Medicine, one of the esteemed universities in the US.

When I saw the financial and academic requirements about IDP on the website last week, I was totally devastated. The admission requirements at the UB are the hardest among all International Dentist Programs in the US. First of all, it has inimitable requirement of financial form submission before acceptance to the program which none of the IDPs in the US demand. Additionally, the form which was made available only last week needs to be submitted in a short time span of 15 days from availability or else my application would not be considered as incomplete and the School will forfeit my application fee.

Secondly, the clinical test requirements of 10 preparations in one single day (7 hours) are unimaginable and unachievable for any IDP prospective students. Furthermore, as a researcher in this era of Evidence-Based Academics, I cannot think of any scientific justification for expecting this level of clinical proficiency from any student especially when it is only being used as an admission criterion. Finally, in the current financial environment, the UB program has the highest amount of two-year tuition and fees ($241,814) when compared to any other similar two-year programs in the US.

I believe that the UB will never be the first choice for any international dentists to get a degree in advance standing program in the US. However, the UB will be my first choice if the requirements of the program would be similar as other program in the US. Please find the attached summary of application requirements from other schools. I am eagerly waiting for your reply.
Thank you for your time and patience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you guys need summary of dental school program...send me your email address through this forum and I will be happy to forward it to you

PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO LET THEM KNOW...WHAT ARE THEY DOING...

THANK YOU ALL

Dear International Dentist Program Applicant:

The School of Dental Medicine has recently been made aware of an unusual delay in our receipt of official TOEFL score reports for some IDP candidates. Since the delivery of the official score reports is not something that applicants can control, we are modifying our requirement.

IDP candidates may submit a photocopy of their TOEFL score report in lieu of an official score report at this time. Photocopies must be received by the application deadline of October 15, 2010. We are currently updating candidates’ checklists to inform you if we have an unofficial TOEFL score on file for you.

Candidates who are offered acceptance into the IDP program will be required to submit an official TOEFL score report if they have not already done so.

The deadline to submit all other application materials remains October 15, 2010. We look forward to reviewing your application.
