hello, I plan on applying to UAB for fall 07 and am wondering what people who have been there think of the school as well as the area and what current students have to say about the first two years and the difficulty of them. Also does anyone know if UAB is research oriented?
Thanks your responces will be much appreciated

Hi. I just graduated from UAB this month. The short story is I was very pleased with my dental education there. UAB is really a top-notch institution. Also, I have found Birmingham to be a great place to live. It is much more cosmopolitan than people give it credit for, the people are friendly, and there are interesting things to do. The first two years of dental school are challenging, but I don't think that is unique to UAB. As far as research goes, most UAB dental students do not participate, but there are ample opportunities to do so if you are interested in research.
If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Either continue on this board or send me a PM. Good luck in your application process!

Thanks i appreciate your comments. I do have an additional question. Did the majority of the people in your class graduate on time as well as was it difficult finding patients to fulfill your requirements?
-Thanks
