Anyone recently entered or graduated the reformed UAG program? Given my ethnic background, I was looking into UAG but was turned off when I heard about the dreaded "fifth pathway program". Fortunately, I heard that they did away with this program fairly recently and now the US medical students only do two years in Mexico and two years in the US (mostly TX where I am from). I want some information because I am seriously considering this school but it seems to have such a horrible rep on sdn.

Send me a private message and I’ll try to answer any questions you have. Good luck.

Hey, there! I actually just finished my first semester at the UAG. If you have any specific questions, just shoot me a message and I'll try to answer you to the best of my capabilities!

Hi,

Can you PM me about UAG medical school, I'm not able to PM you? I'm unsure if to apply to the school as well and I want to know what you have to say about the school?

Unfortunately I didn't make to the medical spanish program this summer because it collided with my last class! I saw this post about UAG and it scared me...it was a long post that anonymous US med students compiled about all the issues there. I will be flying into Guad in August to do a UAG tour I will be in Mexico for a week with my Mom. I started my app there but...I kinda put the brakes on it until I visit and hopefully get to speak with students to get a realistic view...not the bashing or the fake-ness about how great the school is ( that comes from the UAG website). please PM me I would like to meet if your will be in Mx

Honestly...I think it's a little strange this is the first place I can find something about UAG that's in real-time summer 2018.
anything I see anywhere about UAG...is like a blast from the past...2008, 2011, 2014????? why is that my antenna's are up!

The fifth pathway used to make this a viable option. This has since dried up.

Can you further explain what you mean by this? Are you saying that the new curriculum (which is essentially similar to Caribbean med schools and American Med schools) is not a viable option? But rather their old curriculum, which required students to stay in the program for 5 years, was more of a viable option than what they have now?

The fifth pathway program was an alternate path for US IMG's until 2009 when the AMA discontinued it. UAG was a significant contributor.

In 2013, only 84 US IMG's who attended medical school in Mexico matched into a preferred specialty (in the only reliable available data we have). 77 did not. Not all were necessarily from UAG but there is no school specific data. This does not include those who received no interviews. https://www.ecfmg.org/resources/NRM...atch-International-Medical-Graduates-2014.pdf

I would like to have some info but your profile is private.

probably a worse option than the Caribbean, if that's possible
