UAMS
Pros
  • Closer to Home
  • Instate tuition
  • Pass/Fail
  • Higher Step 1 pass rates
  • Have a 3 year accelerated program
  • Close rotation sites

Cons
  • Not sure if they use NBME Exams or in house
  • Not the biggest fan of Little rock but be able to choose Fayetteville campus

LSU-Shreveport
Pros

  • Pass/Fail
  • NBME Exams for sure
  • Smaller class
  • Overall better vibe from students and faculty
  • Provides outside study resources

Cons
  • Out of state tuition is crazy
  • Currently having accreditation issues

Summary: If anybody can add any pros or cons to either school or your experiences please do.

No reason to pay LSU’s OOS tuition. UAMS is a great school, it’s cheaper, and it’s closer to home.

As stated above, paying an additional $30-40k per year for medical school doesn't make much sense when you have a solid in-state school. If you're not a fan of LR, you're definitely not going to be a fan of Shreveport.
