Is it smart for any college or university freshmen/first year to go into programs with tougher academic rigor? For example, my primary university will be UBC and they offer 2 advanced first year programs in the science faculty and I was wondering if it is even advantageous to go into those programs. Or would I be better off taking the standard/easiest pre reqs and having more time for ECs, volunteering and job shadowing.
