Hey guys..I am 3rd year student at York university in Carnada, and I am planning to apply to pharmacy next year..
I have a couple of questions reguarding on converting GPA between provinces...
I go to York Unviersity which gives letter grades such as
A+ 90~100
A 80 - 90
B+ 75 -79
B 70 - 74
C+ 65- 69
C 60 - 64
and so on...
WE do not have numerical grades whatsoever.. and we also do not have A- or B- grades.
I have been searching on UBC GPA conversion table and found this..
http://www.students.ubc.ca/calendar/index.cfm?tree=3,42,96,0
Percentage (%) Letter Grade 90-100 A+ 85-89 A 80-84 A- 76-79 B+ 72-75 B 68-71 B- 64-67 C+ 60-63 C 55-59 C- 50-54 D 0-49 F (Fail)
MY question is that..
If I get pre requisite courses marks as
A, B+ A+ A and B respectively(assuming all were year long courses),
will they automatically convert the marks to UBC standards when they convert to numerical grading? or would they follow York University grades ?
I heard somewhere that when they convert the letter grades, they use the mean score for each and every course, is that correct? (ie, A in biology would be 87% according to UBC scale and 85% according to York).
Plus, although they have not said that they have specific higher average required of OOP students, I heard from previous applicants that average of 70%~75% ain't enough to get an interview spot as an OOP student. Could anyone confirm that please?
As for U of Alberta, my question is somewhat similar..
I have always used the OMSAS GPA conversion to use my york university grades to fit into U of A..
do they follow any specific GPA conversion table?
for example, York has
4.0 - A+
3.8 - A
3.3 - B+
3.0 - B
2.3- C+
2.0- C
1.3- D+
1.0- D
What would U of A use to convert York GPAs?
any kind of help will be appreciated!
Thank you guys! and Good luck to all of you applying the pharm this year!!
