Do they call you if you've been accepted or is it just posted on the status page? or should i be expecting a waitlist if i haven't been called?

I interviewed on 4/11 and i've checked my status page 3987420934 times today... still nothing... we had a large group so maybe they didn't finish going over all applications last night.

Instead of going through the hassle of checking your page that many times, you can resolve it all with 1 phone call. Just call them...they are very nice about letting applicants know where they are on the waitlist.

i am nervous, and i'm not sure if i've been waitlisted yet... it says no action on the status page... should i expect a wait list if they haven't called me?

How do you find housing/roomates if you get accepted in late july/early aug? Do you live on campus? How does that work?

No, they don't call you. My status page went from "NO ACTION" directly to "ACCEPTED." I interviewed on 3/14, and it was updated on the morning of 3/16. I would expect to find your results on the status page before any other communication. If you end up on the waitlist you can call to find out what third you are in (and possibly even more specific according to this board?)

well, they may call people. I actually got a phone call the day after my interview, though I don't know how much they call (like Upstate I guess calls all their interviews and acceptances), but UB is very fast with decisions as far as I have seen and heard. So today is Friday the 13th... and still no change in my status page. I know that they said it would take "up to 2 weeks", but i've passed the common 2-day decision marker. Dr. Severin wasn't at UB the day I interviewed and I'm not sure if he was going to be there for the rest of the week. Doesn't he have final approval before any decisions have been finalized? Maybe thats what's delaying the process? Did anyone who also interviewed on 4/11 hear anything yet?

I remember he interviewed 2 in my day! I guess he also reads the essays that are collected on the interview day!

Yes, Dr. Severin reads all the essays we write, and yes, Dr. Severin does interview. He interviewed me.

First interview of the season + nervousness + dean of admissions as interviewer = 🙁

That's probably the case...no need to worry, then. Your decision will probably be finalized as soon as he returns.

He is such a gentelman, I really liked his friendly behavior at the interview day, well, I guess I would not want to be interviewed by him though! 😀

I didn't get the letter about it, so I didn't know that it was going on until a short time before. I didn't have enough time to get plane tix and plan for it unfortunately.

Hey I just found out about this unofficial UBuffalo waitlist ranking. To help make it more complete, I had an interview back in March and I was told I was in the middle 1/3 of the waitlist.😳

My guidance counselor told me not to contact UB about where I am on the waitlist. She read me from this "Book" (which is a big book of Medical school guidelines) that contacting UB with wait list inquiries was "discouraged." I'm sure this is completely b.s. and has no impact on whether you get in or not off the waitlist, but I'm not going to take the risk. All it takes is upsetting a single person with too many phonecalls (or a poorly timed one) and your chances might be shot. Then again, calling them frequently could show interest in the school and have a completely opposite effect. Just thought I'd bring up that info for y'all.

It seemed to me that Mr. Rosso at least was happy to receive calls inquiring about admissions status. I don't know about any of the other people that answer the phones there tho
 
Just don't call every day. You're entitled to know where you are on the waitlist ... but you should probably not call more than once every few weeks.

I agree with you guys here. Mr. Rosso actually encouraged applicants to call to find out where they are on the waitlist. People just have to show some common sense to refrain from calling every week or worse, everyday. I personally have called once a month and they were very nice about it on both occasions.
 
Hey everyone, have any of your positions changed between the thirds? I haven't checked in a few weeks but was wondering if things have changed drastically during that time. Good luck to everyone!!!!! Countdown to 3...2....1 ...but three more interviews seems like an eternity away.

Just curious, is Buffalo still conducting interviews? If so, any ideas as to how many seats are still available for Fall '07?

wait, two more interview days including today? that means ending interviews on april 24th? or may 2nd? there are three interviews left including today i believe.

So i'm just curious, where did you hear about these numbers? 70 seats seems like a lot for this late in the year, no?

May 2nd is the last day. I'll be there.
 
it's not hard to believe that there are 70 spots left because my medical student host told me recently that they only accepted 50 at the end of march so it's mid april now and 20 more seats are filled. the class, i believe, is around 140 students. man all the waiting is tortorous!
 
Hmm...I just interviewed there today and actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would (and obviously I liked it enough to go fly up there lol). Their facilities were a LOT nicer than I had expected. I guess it's partly because it's easier/cheaper to build huge sprawling medical compounds up there, and maybe there's more money flowing nowadays with the attempt to turn Western NY into a biomedical powerhouse to stop the loss of jobs, but either way I was fairly impressed by how nice it was for a state school.

A little bit unimpressed by the fact that it's 8 to a body and seems to be some kinda crazy simultaneous 8 to a body thing with 4 teams of 2 taking different quarters or something, but I guess that's a limitation of the anatomy lab's size since apparently they have plenty of cadavers.

Dang it, now there's 3 medical schools I want to go to about equally, none of whom have accepted me or rejected me yet. Argh!

Just a note from the real world; please please don't choose a school based on the student/cadaver ratio. Once you see the amount of material you have to memorize and recognize, you'll be glad there are other people there to help you dissect huge globs of fat bit by bit. You don't learn that much from dissection, you learn it from going over already-dissected areas a few times. It can get somewhat crowded around the table at times with 8 people, but usually the schedule and work distribution is such that work is quite doable.
