I just got accepted into their program as a career changer and will be starting in the Fall of 2013. I'd like to get a discussion going on regarding everyone's plans with whoever is in the program or will be starting soon.

I've been searching online and I couldn't find enough info on where people who attend this program generally live. I'm wondering especially since the classes are scattered throughout the Bay Area.

Congrats! I'm looking to apply asap as well, after finals at least.. I'm a "career changer" I suppose, but it hasn't been long since I graduated so, go figure. I'm looking forward to beginning classes soon, but because of a week-long family reunion can't take anything in-person over this summer 🙁

I'm living in San Mateo, where are you? I was under the impression that people going to BerkX were coming from all over the state honestly, I know that I spoke with people from Sacramento and even LA who would have come up here if accepted into the program.

I am taking classes through UCBX, but I saw no need to go through the official program, as my undergraduate provides free med school advising and whatnot to all of its alumni. What made you guys decide to go with the official program, as opposed to taking all of the courses DIY w/o bothering with the app?

To be completely honest, the majority of the classes are offered at Berkeley, even if they are ALSO offered elsewhere. If you want to live close to them, I'd focus there. Besides, there's transit in that area. I happened to be in San Jose, so that is where I'm commuting from (usually to Belmont). The other option, if you're looking for lab/medical jobs, is to live around Stanford (where those jobs often are) and take the courses when they're offered at the Belmont location.
