Hello Guys,

Did anyone got accepted at the MPH Program at UC Davis?
It's an accelerated one year program and since it's a UC I assume it would be a good one🙂

I got accepted at the program for this Fall.
Other students who got accepted/applied please share your status here.

This thread will enable students to exchange info regarding Davis MPH, about which very little
info is available at SDN..

Any alumni/ current students/prospective students pls share your experience/info. here

Thanks

I didn't know UC Davis had an accelerated MPH program. Do they only accept students with professional degrees/people who have years of public health experience?

Yes, they do prefer students witha professional degree.
And public health experience like any other MPH program is a must.

Hey guys,

Really?
Does no one here has any info regarding UC Davis MPH?
Please be more interactive and share your experiences and information.

I can't say much, but I did enroll in a graduate class in their MPH program. From the information I got from chatting with the students, the majority of them did not have a professional degree (many directly from undergrad). There was a sprinkle of students who were MD/MPH, one was a physician, another was a nurse, and another DVM.

As for the professors, I had the opportunity to interact with 3 of them and they were very accommodating in terms of scheduling appointments. Coursework and grading was fair, almost easy if you studied hard. Can't say much about research opportunities, but being a UC there should be plenty of that.

You will be sharing a campus with a world class vet school and have access to very nice facilities. The campus is apart from the main campus, which is nice if you don't want to deal with the 25k undergrads. Davis is a very quiet, safe, and small city. You can walk around at night without much worry. Standard if living is quite high though, so do be prepared to shell out the monies.

I hope this helps somewhat. Good luck!:luck:

Thanks Katmasta...
for your reply.

It was really helpful.
Do you know if they have GSR/GSI positions for MPH Students?

I do believe there are GSR positions. I know there was 2nd year student TA in my class who helped grade everything. I remember there was PhD candidate asking our prof if there was a vacant position as a TA but the position had already been filled. I guess it it'll all depend on the professor and who gets to him/her first.
